Hello my Quilty Friends! Hope you are enjoying the summer and World Cup. Here in the PNW, we are currently experiencing another short heat wave before cooler weather and rain.
It has been exciting to follow the World Cup. Tomorrow the final group stage games start. I am hoping our Northern Neighbors can win their group, but even if they don’t they will move onto the Round of 32 knockout stage. So much fun watching all the big stars playing with my favorite being Messi. Such a humble man.
I am planning on linking up with Carol Schmilt @ Quilt Schmilt in British Columbia for another week of To Do Tuesday. Overall I feel pretty good about what I accomplished

Feel free to join us!
WIP Updates
My gym was closed this past Friday for Juneteenth Day (still don’t understand this holiday) so I had a full day of zoom quilting with my guild. People drop in and out all day. The Zoom is up from 10am to 11pm. I am not up for 13 hours of quilting. This week I made about 6 hours before my back started hurting.
Autumn Quilt Seeds by Lori Holt (Bee in My Bonnet)

I cut the block last week but forgot to take a picture. I didn’t get as far as a I hoped with this block. Nala was too helpful. These churn dash units are 4 1/2 inches. With the sashing, the center of the pumpkin finishes 9.5 inches. I so love churn dashes and this one is just adorable!
Abby Rose Churn Dash Quilt

I was able to finish up my second (of 4) churn dash blocks planned for this month. I was able to start on my third one (pink). Not many left to do before I will need to finally layout and decide on the finish for this quilt. Hmmm. Maybe I should start thinking about they layout before I finish. What a concept!
June Monthly Color Challenge block from Patterns by Jen

Grey was the color for this month. I wasn’t sure if I had reeally picked grays with enough contrast. I did. It looks good. For the past 5 years I have been using Alison Glass fabric each month. When this year finishes, I will have 60 – 12 1/2 inches blocks. Maybe I should start thinking about assembling this one too. So I got some quilts that I need to plug into EQ8. So much fun!
Queen of Diamonds by Pink Door Fabrics

I was on such a roll last week with my english paper piecing. I didn’t realize I only stitched one night this past week. It was hot and I didn’t feel very crafty most of the weekend. I am so loving this block and am excited to finish it up. The secondary pattern being formed from the fussy cut dragonflies is going to be cool.
Weekly To Do List

Had a Gammill Zoom call this week. The topic was Batting Scraps. Everyone shared different ways they used up their scrap batting:
Here were a few of the ways that people were using them:
- To splint a cow’s broken leg (with PVC pipe)
- Filler in the wall for a drywall patch
- Placing a extra piece of batting in an area during quilting to take up fullness
- Cut up and use to stuff a pillow
- On a Swiffer mop
- Cleaning
- Small projects such as potholders, pillows, tablerunners, placemats, mug rugs, etc
- When longarming, on the extra a piece of batting with fabric to test stitches on the side of the quilt
There were more ideas but that is all that I can pull out of my tired brain right now.

Musings

Just never seems to be enough hours in the day to do everything I want. I want to design fabric, design my quilt tops, sew things together, do some applique, do some english paper piecing, work on quilting designs, quilt a few tops……
Just so much to do and so little time to do it. It doesn’t help that the sewing studio is “out of my way” these days. When I had a house full of kids and people, I would have killed for a quite area. LOL!
Thank goodness for all my quilt zoom times. It really helps me to go forward no matter what. Only problem is, I typically only sew on those days. Oh well. You can’t have everythings.
Thanks again for stopping by. See you next week!
