To Do Tuesday #188

Hello my Quilty friends! How is your summer going? We have had a mild summer here in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). The last few days have been much warmer hitting a high of 87F. Sitting on my back patio with the breeze blowing, it’s perfect. Hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July. Fireworks started here last week and continued pretty late on Saturday night. Luckily nothing since.

My daughter Caitlin and her husband Jannes were on a backpacking trip to the Three Sisters 🏔️ in Oregon. I had cat duty. I went over on Saturday evening to check on the furbabies and feed them. They were good for the most part. Fireworks were non-stop in their neighborhood. She lives a half block away from a park. I was happy to go home. So happy in fact that I could appreciate how much quieter my neighborhood was. LOL! 😂 🧨🎇

To Do Tuesday https://quiltschmilt.ca/

I will be linking up with Carol over at Quiltschmilt for this week’s To Do Tuesday Linkup where we share our results from last week’s to do list and put forth the coming week’s list.

New Start: Super Nova (Floral Reef Version)

Super Nova Cover

This pattern is originally designed by Tula Pink herself and is an English Paper Piecing pattern. Pink Door Fabrics has re-released the pattern colored with various Tula Pink collections. I have always wanted to do this one and decided to jump in with the Floral Reef edition. I hear they may be doing a Legendary edition as well. I forgot how many months will be shipping but I received month one back in April or May and received month 3 this week. I choose to include all the papers, thread, and backing. A plus has been two glue sticks each month.

Super Nova Cutting & Fabric for Month 1

I have been reading the instructions and looking at this for a month. I finally took the plunge this week. I had back to back Guild Quilt Zooms Friday and Saturday. I have 176 pieces to cut for the “red” section which is month 1. There is “3” different blocks to cut. Block 1 is the center medallion and has 131 pieces and then one many medallion is block 3 and block 2 is all the stars. I got blocks 2 & 3 all cut out.

Super Nova Block 1-1

I started this block this week even though I still need to cut the stars and black pieces.

Start 7/6/2026 of Super Nova (Floral Reef edition) Blk 1-1
