Welcome back my Stitchy friends! I am travelling today to Kentucky via Nashville. I am not sure if this will really post on Friday or if it will end up being on Saturday.
I have a lot to share today as I forgot to share the September WIPGO last time I posted in August. Which means this is my first time posting in September where I share the results of August WIPGO. I am going to tackle these first.
August WIPGO Results
I had a 100% success rate for my August WIPGO in August. A nice change for the month back to the way it used to be before the move.
Project 9: November Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop)
As you can see, there was only the bucket left to finish for this project. The goal was to finish. 100% success for August! As mentioned before, it feels good to be wrapping up this series. Just one left!
Project 23: Stitching Quaker Quilt by Primrose Cottage
The pull for August was Stitching Quaker which I already finished this year. So I ended up doing Stitching Quilt instead. The goal was to stitch 2000 stitches. Instead, I finished it! That was a pleasant surprise. It turned out super cute.
September WIPGO
Wanted to share the pulls for this month although we are underway already. I will share progress in the Updates & New Start sections
Project 24: Home Grown by It’s Sew Emma (First ever Stitch Quarterly by Fat Quarter Shop)
This is where we started the month with the Home Grown project. I previously only worked on the letters. The goal for this month is 2000 stitches.
Project 25: November Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
When I worked on this last November, I finished the small already. September I will be starting the main chart. The goal is 2000 stitches.
New Starts & Finishes
It has been two weeks since I shared. I have 1 finish and 3 starts to share.
FINISH: AUG WIPGO #23: Stitching Quilt by Primrose Cottage
I started this one on August 24 and finished one week later on August 1st. It was stitched on 16 ct aida pewter with the called for Colour & Cotton floss. Once I established the grid, this one just flew off the needle.
START: Merry Moments Ornament Club: Plaid Tidings by Hands on Design
I finally got this one started. I am stitching on 16 ct dubloon aida with called for DMC. This looks like it will be a fun stitch.
START: SEP WIPGO #25: November Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
I am stitching from a kit with 14ct chalkboard black aida with the called for Classic Colorworks. So far lots of fun!
START: JUN WIPGO #12: October Square Dance by Heart in Hand
I tried to start this one multiple times (because I would forget)but I was missing floss. When the floss came, I didn’t remember who it was for so it was put away in my stash 🙄. I finally forced myself to get he last three months kitted up and wanted to put some thread to fabric. So here is my start at the beginning of September.
This is being stitched on 16t french country mocha aida with the called for Weeks Dye Works, Classic Colorworks, and Gentle Arts floss.
WIP Updates
Now that we have the WIPGO last month and this month taken care of as well as the new starts since I shared last time. It is time to show you all the WIPs I worked on during the past two weeks. I am not sure if I will ever have as much time as I did before I moved. My days just seem to creep into my evening stitch time.
Fieldguide to Dragons
This was the last of my 400 stitches for August. It as nice to start a new dragon after finishing this left section of the border.
SEP WIPGO #24: Home Grown by It’s Sew Emma
I worked on filling in the E. Once that was done it was time to start the “O” which is a sunflower. Now I am at the good part! I am stitching on 14ct Fabric Flair Whitewashed Board with DMC floss.
Oakly Acorn by Robin Pickens
Me and these oak leaves really butted heads. It took me an entire day to finish just the one leaf. I tried to start the second (and final one) but ended up frogging it because it didn’t line up. Instead I did some of the small bits and pieces as well as the red leaves (which were so much eaiser!). I finished my 400 stitches or September. I think I might be able to finish it next month.
JUN WIPGO #12: October Square Dance by Heart in Hand
After getting this one started, I worked on the owls (yes owls). October will be a bunch of owls. I worked on this during PNWSS Retreat. I think I did more talking then stitching. 🐿️
SEP WIPGO #25: November Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
I was pleased to move into the signage below the house & tree. I was able to finish just over 600. I have a long ways to go to 2000. I brought it on this trip in hopes that I will work on it.
Corny Cruiser by Teresa Kogut
I was super excited to pull this project out that I started last fall. I had forgotten it was 38 ct linen. For me, that means very slow stitching. I was pleased to finish the pumpkinhead ghost people.
Foxtrot by It’s Sew Emma (Stitch Quarterly project)
This was another fall project pulled from the depths of my closet to work on. It is another Fat Quarter Shop Stitch quarterly project. Last year I tried to start a punch of fall so I would only have to start stitching this year. That has worked well for me. I was able to finish all the rusty brown of the fox and start on the white. Of course doing the white tip of the tail was my first go to spot! 🦊

PNWSS Retreat in Portland, Oregon
We had three designers at the Pacific Northwest Stitch Summit Retreat held at the Embassy Suites in Portland, Oregon. It was hosted by Acorns and Thread.
Our three designers were Paulette from Plum Street Samplers, Steph from Lindy Stitches, and Jeannie from Blue Flower. They had a round table panel the first day where our hostess Jeannine asked them various questions. Some were specific to cross stitch or general designing questions. Some were just fun silly questions such as favorite Taylor Swift song. It was a fun way to get to know the designers and feel really in touch with them.
Each designer gave us 2 projects. Blue Flower’s second project was a stump pincushion for us to assemble (not shown). All of these are on linen (the bane of my existence) ranging from 32 ct to 40 count. I was unprepared to start the projects during the retreat unlike many of my table mates.
We also received a swag bag from Acorns and Threads with various items (which I forgot to take a picture of – sorry). The bag itself was a high quality bag preprinted with Acorn & Threads logo. Items included were pen, hand sanitizer, scissors, 100 floss drops, a mini project bag, floss rings, candy, and much more. (Meaning I can’t remember everything 😳)
Meet my Table. We have Jen from Sacramento, Dawn from Portland (soon to be relocated to Georgia), Terri from Portland, and Janet from Oakland. We had a wonderful weekend chatting, stitching, and participating in other activities such as the free table, raffles, smalls gift exchange, the brag table, bingo, and door prizes. Thank you ladies for making it so fun!
