Floss Friday #189

Welcome back my stitchy friends. I got busy last week and Friday & Saturday got away from me. I have stuff to share with you so let’s get started.

30 Acorns Class @ Acorns & Threads by Cathy from Hands on Design

I was feeling pretty on target to get all the prestitching done for this class. I just had to stitch the 2 charts for the perforated paper that would eventually be a needlebook. I finished with a couple of days to spare. It felt good to be done!

Day One we focused on making this cute little box. Yes I said we MADE the box (out of matboard). We carefully taped up the top and bottom and then glued ths cute fall fabric to the outside of box top & bottom. Then we made a liner and glued fabric to the liner for the inside bottom. Then we laced up our finished stitchery to mat boards for the bottom. The top we covered another mat board with fabric before we added the stitched pocket with rick rack. We laced the pocket as well.

The second day we focused on making the needlebook with the stitched perforated paper and wool.

We received little goodies as well as a bonus chart to make a pincushion pillow. We were given a pair of snips and a needleminder (which somehow I didn’t photograph)

I met a lot of super nice people. My tablemates – Beth, Dee, & Diane – were awesome and we had a great time. As is normal, everyone was helping each other. We had a nice diverse group. Beth came all the way from Arkansas while Dee was from Tacoma and Diane was from Marysville (north of Seattle). It was a fun 2 days filled with learning and laughter. Of course, I did not manage to make out of Acorns & Threads without shopping at the store.

Hmmm. As I am staring at this photo I realize that almost everything I bought is round. We didn’t do a round finish in this class, BUT I did learn the trick for that from Lois @ Lady Dot Creates when I went to the 141 Spring Retreat.

It is not much, but it is finally started!

I forgot I had this start as well. It was a free chart from Primrose Cottage for June. I just think it is so cute and couldn’t resist starting it.

WIP Updates

As you can imagine, the majority of my time was spent working on the class prestitching which did spread out over I think a total of 5 days. Yet I still have some other projects to share with you.

Snowman Collector: The Scarecrow by Cottage Garden Samplings

I wanted to reach my 400 stitches so I spent a little more time on The Scarecrow filling in the wheat after getting the stalks done.

Fabuous House: The Castle by Cottage Garden Samplings

I was watching the World Cup games one day and ended up getting of hitting my goal and more! The main part of the castle is done, now I am working on the right turret? Is that the right word for it? I put in the top of the water marks to help me with placements.

July WIPGO Project 9: Winter Stitching Season by Stitching with the Housewives

I worked on this one a couple of times. I am almost to halfway to my 2000 stitch goal. This lugana is so easy to work with. I love it.

July WIPGO Project 17: Oakly Acorn by Robin Pickens

I also got a few nights in on this project as well. I am not gonna lie. It feels weird working on fall stuff when I want to work on summer stuff. Yet I am reminded why I love working on fall projects. The colors are fabulous. I think it was appropriate since this pattern has acorns!

Fieldguide to Dragons by Climbing Goats Design

During Midsummer Stitch with Lindy Stitches, I worked on this project. I was able to finish the red dragon (Welsh Dragon) as well as adding the name to it and the purple dragon (Fafnir). Exceeded my monthly goal on this one as well.

Make Today Count by Hands on Design

Last but not least, I worked on this project and hit my goal. I finished up the words and started the running stitch border and even started the stitchy border around the words. There is still a lot to do.

Happy Mail

I received a package from Chantelle’s 141 design last week. It is a mystery box. Here is my haul.

I should be able to do some very nice finishes with this (sometime in the future). LOL 🙈

Plans & Reflections

It has been a very busy two weeks. With focusing on stitching for my class (which I was happy I did), I am a little behind on the rest of my goals. Only a week left of July. Where did the month go?!
