Floss Friday #180

Welcome back for some cross stitch goodness! Last week we went in depth on my Cross Stitch WIPGO results for April (and past month goals) as well as to diving into the May WIPGO projects. I was pretty focused this week and went with finishing a goal before moving onto the next project goal. I know..a little unusal for me. It is just where my head was this week. I feel good with the results.

Let’s jump in.

Starts & Finishes

I had planned a few starts this week. In particular I had wanted to start my Make Today Count as this is part of SAL. Well I didn’t like the shape of my fabric and I could not remember what the count was (16 or 18). I felt like I needed to cut it down and start in the middle instead of a corner because my fabric wasn’t going to be wide enough for my usual 2.5 inch border. Finally got it up to the sewing room today to cut down and zigzag the edge. Still need to bobbin up the floss, then I will FINALLY be ready to start. LOL! So instead, I have a finish to share.

FINISH: MAY WIPGO #15: Spring Stitching Season by Stitching with the Housewives

It took me 3 nights to finish this one. It felt good putting in the last stitch and finishing my first WIPGO goal for May. Once again, Stitching with the Housewives amaze me with their ability to put together such cute projects with just 5 or 6 colors.

WIP Updates

Since I was so focused on finishing my monthly goal for each project I picked up this week, that means not a lot of projects were worked on.

Fabulous House: The Castle by Cottage Garden Samplings

The goal I usually pick is what has been my norm number of stitches in an evening. Past couple of months, I haven’t been spending 4 or 5 hours stitching in the evening. It has been 2 or 3 hours instead. So, it took two nights to finish up my 400 for May on this fun project. I ended up leaving the door half stitched as I focused in on filling in the lightest color (darkest already done) in the main part of the castle. Then I will just need to fill in with the medium color. Almost done with the main (middle) part of the castle.

March Month 2 Month Barn by Stitching with the Housewives

My goal for the month on this was to do 400 stitches. I got most of them done the first night and really only had a little to do on the second night, but I lost track of time and before you know it I had almost finished the rest of the chart (not my intention). There is literally only 64 stitches left, but I put this away at midnight when I could not keep my eyes open anymore. I will be finishing it up today! It will be an unplanned finish. This is always a welcome outcome.

Plans & Reflections

This Wednesday I will be flying out to Michigan to attend my first Cross Stitch retreat. While I have asked questions, I am still not sure what to expect. I know there will be a smalls exchange, but I have no idea what is expected so I am not bringing anything, therefore will not participate in the exchange. I will watch and learn baby! They also mentioned bringing small gifts for your tablemates. Once again, I have no idea what those “small” gifts should be, so will just be observing, not participating. This is going to be a learning experience.

Since this is not a workshop, there is no prestitching. I understand there will be some finishing demos throughout as well as fun and games.

My plan is to bring 3 or 4 projects to work on:

  • Fieldguide to Dragons
  • Fruit of Plenty
  • Crescent City Velaris
  • Mystery project – Maybe Make Today Count as the sponsor of this SAL is the same one hosting the retreat
The rest of the week before the trip
  • Mr. April
  • Kit up The Scarecrow (Snowman Collector #5)
  • Start Make Today Count
  • Start Light the Way (HOD Merry Moments ornament #2)
  • maybe Shabby Winter Calendar (just not feeling that winter vibe but needs to get done)

That should keep me busy. Hope you saw some eye candy. I am not making any promises that I will post next Friday. I have no idea how the day will shake out at the retreat. The last time I thought I would post at the retreat, I was having to much time to write up the blog.

Have a great weekend stitching my friends,

Peggy Stockwell in Vancouver, Washington

Floss Friday #177

It has been two weeks since I posted. Check out my quilting post for all the fun I had at the quilt retreat here.

I was very optomistic about how much cross stitching I would get done. Surprise! Yet I still managed to get a wee bit of stitching from time to time. I did take one of my WIPGO projects.

Starts & Finishes

There were a lot of down days this past two weeks. I would like to say they were all while I was at the quilt retreat but that would be a fib. Yet I was able to finish one of my projects.

Floss Friday #175

Welcome back my Stitchy Friends! We have a lovely sunny 60+F day here in Vancouver, Washington. The sky is this amazing blue which is so nice to look at after a few days of rainy clouds. Still a little too breezy for me, but I sure love looking at the bright blue sky!

Starts & Finishes

I had two finishes this week! That got me a little pumped!

Floss Friday #163

Welcome to 2026! I finished off December 31st trying to make it through my December goal list. Unfortunately, while I worked on EVERY project left, I did NOT make my goals. So I focused on my December WIPGO projects as that is the whole reason to have WIPGO projects. Total win there!

2025 Project Recap

  • WIPs as of January 1st = 21
  • Starts = 52
  • Finishes = 39
  • WIPs as of December 31st = 34
  • View WIP list/gallery here
  • Zero Final Finishes (FFO)

I thought about doing a post for 2025 ending / 2026 beginning WIPs but decided that instead I would create a page for it instead. You can visit the page anytime view the top menu. I did mention I was going to shake things up this year right?

Floss Friday #160

Hello My Stitchy Friends. Sorry about missing a week. If you follow me, then you are aware I had an impromptu trip to California to wrap up family matters and to finalize my move from California to Washington. My shoulders feel so much lighter now that everything is done.

Unfortunately, the lighting was terrible in my hotel room where I was staying. Plus I messed up on my project and was unable to successfully unstitch. Finally decided it was not worthy destroying the fabric. Let’s get to it so you can see!

November WIPGO Results

November 2025 WIPGO: Projects 3 & 22

I would love to say I hit all of my WIPGO goals for November, but unfortunately, that would be a no. BUT I did good.

Hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Mine was awesome. Good company. Good food. I did have a bit of a food coma afterwards. Rained most of the day but since I never had to leave the house, it didn’t bother me much. Hope all of you had a great holiday!

Overall, this was a good stitching week. I even finished one of my WIPGO goals for November. With just 3 days left, I hope to finish my second goal. Let’s take a look at this week’s projects.

Floss Friday #157

Hello Everyone! It has been a busy week here. I have been working on kitting and prepping all of my fall new starts. I have a crazy process.

First I decide on them. Next I pull threads. If it is a “purchased” kit, I check my floss inventory for used skeins. I update my Excel sheet (Floss Inventory) for number of skeins in the kit and my actual inventory numbers. This why if I have a little kit for something, I know where I can temporarily pull floss from if I need to or borrow until I order some online. I really like how it has been working these past couple of years.

Once that is done, I make sure I have fabric in the kit. Afterwards, I go to the sewing studio to prep the fabric (zigzag the edges). This has been done for all but one of my fall projects this week.

Floss Friday #156

Wow! I got really hyper focused this week attempting to finish all of my Halloween WIPs. I normally would just work on night on something, but I really really wanted to wrap up these projects.

I considered doing this with my Fall WIPs. I don’t think I am close enough to finish any of them if I want to everything else on my list. Not sure if I will get my November goals posted as I still want to spend some time in the sewing studio today as well. So much to do and so little time (and I am retired!)

Floss Friday #152

We have reached the last Friday of the Summer. So hard to believe we are here already. I feel like the summer just flew by! I didn’t really DO anything all summer. My summer was spent settling in to my new home and selling the old one. My San Jose home finally closed last friday. (Yea!!!) I still have one more home to sell in San Jose and I hope to sell it before year end. Hopefully ya’ll have done something way more fun this summer!

September and Ocotber will be making up for being a homebody all summer. First trip is quickly approaching and I can’t wait to see all my friends in person as we attend the Zephyr Cove quilt retreat on Lake Tahoe.

Moving on to stitchy things!

Floss Friday #148

Welcome back my stitchy friends. Wow! It is now August. The summer is just zooming by. It is hard to believe that I have been in my new home four months. In some ways it feels like I have been here forever (because I am loving every moment) and in others it feels like I just go here (tons of boxes to unpack still).

I am slowly getting things together and have developed a pretty good daily routine which includes regular stitching. Meet most of my July goals so let’s take a look!

July WIPGO Results

I meet both my goals for July which makes me super happy. Since I moved it has been quite the struggle to meet these goals. Slowly but surely things are coming together.
