Floss Friday #193

Hello Stitchy Friends! Wow! Summer is just zooming by. I can’t believe we are already down to just a week and a bit left of August. Then we will be into all. I hope you have had a great summer.

Starts & Finishes

I did have a finish this week, but no new starts. I have a list of five things I wanted to start this month. This next week, I had better jump on that!

FINISH: Aug WIPGO Project #19: November Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop)
November Stackables Finish 8/17/2026

Finished up this stitch this week. I did not have a lot time each evening a hour here or there so it took 2 nights to finish. This was a stitch of the month from Fat Quarter Shop from 2021. I stitched on 14ct marbled white pine board aida by Fabric Flair with the called for Classic Colorworks floss.

WIP Updates

Missed out stitching last weekend and only a couple hours(or one) each night this week. I did not make it through my lineup for the week. Here is what I did work on:

Fabulous House: The Castle by Cottage Garden Samplings

The night I worked on this one, I actually got all 400 stitches for the month done. Wrapped up the rook part of the castle on the right. I still need to finish it’s roof but otherwise, done!

Sweetly Sayin’ 4th of July by Primrose Cottage
Sweetly Saying 4th of July WIP 8/19/2026

The night I worked on this I barely had an hour. I pulled it out of the basket thinking it was my Stitching Quaker but realized it was this patriotic stitch. I decided to go ahead and put a few more stitches in it before putting away for 2026.

Make Today Count by Hands on Design

I got distracted with online shopping the night I worked on this project so only got 300 of my 400 stitches done. So I will be working on this one tonight to finish up the final 100 to hit my August goal. I did some more on the border around the words and working on the left border. The border is hard. I know it will be cute when finished, but there is alot of backstitching and counting involved. It will be worth it when I am done. Meanwhile…(grumble grumble)

Plans & Reflections

I spent more time reading this week then crafting or creating. It will be a miracle if I hit my goals this month. I have been focusing mainly on my WIPGO goals so far this month which is great. I have knocked off some old goals.

Plans for next week:

  • Finish up Shabby Winter Calendar
  • Start HOD Plaid Tidings
  • Start Stitching Quilt
  • Start October Square Dance
  • Make Today Count
  • Summer Stitching Season
  • The Scarecrow

Hope everyone has a great weekend. See you next week!

Floss Friday #192

Hello my Stitchy Friends! It has been another crazy busy week. I ended up missing stitching a couple of nights but still made some nice progress that I can’t wait to share with you! Let’s get started:

Starts & Finishes

Once again no new starts or finishes.

WIP Updates

While I may not have a lot to share this week, I feel pretty good with what I did do.

Floss Friday #190

This past week was another full week of learning. This time I took a 3 day class in Portland to “Master” my new Bernina 990. That’s sewing and this post is about cross stitch. I only mention it because it meant that I was in traffic for an hour every morning and 90-120 minutes. When I got home, I had homework to do for the next day. By the time I finished my homework, I had enough time to eat and go to bed so I could do it all over again the next day. Not a lot of stitching happened.

Floss Friday #158

Hello Everyone! I started thinking about Thanksgiving this week. I am looking forward to good food and company. It makes it one of my favorite times of the year. I look forward to the fellowship!

The week was productive. I hit all of my weekly goals and most of my monthly goals. Let’s take a look at this week’s projects.

Floss Friday #156

Wow! I got really hyper focused this week attempting to finish all of my Halloween WIPs. I normally would just work on night on something, but I really really wanted to wrap up these projects.

I considered doing this with my Fall WIPs. I don’t think I am close enough to finish any of them if I want to everything else on my list. Not sure if I will get my November goals posted as I still want to spend some time in the sewing studio today as well. So much to do and so little time (and I am retired!)

Floss Friday #155

Hello Everyone! I am finally home for a while. It feels so good to be home although I had a great time in NYC. If I find some time, I will do a travel post to cover everything I did in September & October. It has definitely been a very busy fall so far. I am looking forward to some extended time at home and to get back to my normal routine.

Unfortunately for all of you, this may be a bit longish. I will try and wrap up all of October since my post on October 3rd.

Floss Friday #154

It sure was a busy September. I was on the road a lot, so I missed quite a few Fridays. I had a great time at the Quilt Retreat at Zephyr Cove on Lake Tahoe. I shared a little more in the To Do Tuesday #156 post.

The latest trip took me to Redmond/Bend, Oregon for a long arm training with Gammill as well as a shop hop one day. Learned a lot and met a lot of great people. The teachers were fantastic! I can’t wait until next year to do it again when I have more experience with my retrofited Statler.

Floss Friday #153

First Friday of September! Welcome Fall. We are still having warm weather but with a few showers to help break things up. I am sure in 4 months I will be complaining. For now, welcoming the change. It has been a pretty good week so let’s take a look.

To Do Tuesday #155

Welcome back! First post of September and the fall. I am starting to gear up for my upcoming quilt retreat on Lake Tahoe. Last year was spectacular and I don’t expect anything less this year. I went in July last year and it was the hottest week of the year. The conference center doesn’t have AC because it is generally mild on the lake. So here is to hoping that this year will be falltacular!

I am linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt once again for To Do Tuesday. While most projects are quilting, it is for any kind of creative maker. Come join us!

Floss Friday #152

We have reached the last Friday of the Summer. So hard to believe we are here already. I feel like the summer just flew by! I didn’t really DO anything all summer. My summer was spent settling in to my new home and selling the old one. My San Jose home finally closed last friday. (Yea!!!) I still have one more home to sell in San Jose and I hope to sell it before year end. Hopefully ya’ll have done something way more fun this summer!

September and Ocotber will be making up for being a homebody all summer. First trip is quickly approaching and I can’t wait to see all my friends in person as we attend the Zephyr Cove quilt retreat on Lake Tahoe.

Moving on to stitchy things!
