It has been a minute my quilty friends. Just to give you a heads up, the next 6 weeks is going to be crazy. I am gone as much as I am home. Hopefully I will get to share some of what I am doing with all of you.

WIP Update
Let’s take a look at what I have worked on this past week.
August Monthly Color Challenge with Patterns by Jen
I finished sewing up this tan and cream block for the August challenge once again using Alison Glass fabrics. September is browns 😟. I don’t know how I will tackle the September block. Dark Oranges maybe…. We shall see.
Teal Freelancer Wedge Star Quilt by Studio 180 Designs
I finished my first Mixed Star Wedge block. I followed the step by step instructions that were on the packaging. I am not sure if I hadn’t seen this demo’d if I would have had such an easy time of it. I trimmed up my pointy sections for the next 3 mixed star wedges. After laying out all three blocks, I flipped all the solid wedges on top of the star point wedges and got all my twosies sewn together.
I was afraid I wouldn’t remember how to do everything. While I may not have been able to follow the instructions if I hadn’t seen each step demo’d, following the instructions afterwards was a lot easier than expected. I was hoping to get back in my studio to work on these blocks, but somehow the week got away from me.
Starbright Paisleys Strip Club pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs
I don’t have an updated picture, but I have finished the first 8 four patches sewn together in the next “four patch” picture above. I have adopted sewing in batches of 8 for each original 4 patch colorway.
Then I started sewing together the next 8 original 4 patches as well as sewing together the next two sets of 2.5” strip sets (which will be my next center 4 patch.)

Musings
What is it about cats and boxes? I opened the box and Nala jumped in before I had even finished unbacking the box. No quilty stuff in this box although… I think I did get happy mail this past week. My daughter bought me a quilt pattern she wants me to make her.
She is on vacation in Calgary, Canada and ended up visiting this cute quilt shop Sugar Pine. It looks like a fun quilt. I am just not sure if I have in my stash the right batiks (I think batiks would be best) for this applique quilt. So it looks like I might have a retreat project.
This weekend is Labor Day Weekend here in the US. I am signed up for the PNW Stitch Summit (PNWSS) hosted in Portland OR. I finally got the email today with the event starting in just 3 days. I wasn’t sure what to expect. After reading the email, it is a hyped up cross stitch retreat with 3 special guest designers on Saturday. I will chat about the event more on my cross stitch blog.
It looks like I will not be doing any sewing Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Not sure if any will happen this week as I get ready for this trip across the river. So much to do and so little time.
