Quilt Diary: What’s Under My Needle to wrap up August

I’m going for shorter post today and just going to talk about what I have been working on this week.  Like most of you, I have very productive weeks and not so much other weeks.  This is a middle of the road week.  Continue reading “Quilt Diary: What’s Under My Needle to wrap up August”

Quilt Diary: Going on a Picnic and other Sew-a-long Updates

It is hard to believe that we are now in the last week of July.  Where did the month go?  I kept thinking I was going to post every week. LOL!  That never happened.  Realistically the writing gets done, it is the photography that is lagging behind.  This time around I thought I could do a follow-up on all of my Sew-a-Longs.

It feels weird not participating in the 100 days 100 blocks this year as I have done it the last two summers.  I still have 2018 and 2019 to assemble.  Plus it is not a new pattern this year.  It takes a lot of effort to do a block every day although 100 days is easier than 365 days.  For 2020, I am sticking with some easier sew-a-longs so I can get caught up.  Is that an oxymoron? Quilt Diary: 2020 Q2 Finishes & Q3 Goals

The second quarter of 2020 has flown by even though we are in quarantine.  It seems like a life time ago that we didn’t have to wear masks in public.  It is a strange time in history and I don’t see it changing.  I have checked the WHO lately or some of the other scientific sites to see how close we are to a vaccination.  When I checked last it was 18 months out.  Crazy world.  I would much rather hibernate in my quilting world.  I feel very grateful that we have the internet and can shop and touch base with other quilters via social media.  Video online classes – that seemed ridiculous until now right?  With all that, I must say I have a very high expectation in my finishes and so I am trying not to beat myself up. Quilt Diary: SAL Update

Coming to you from Denver today.  On the road for hockey with my grandson Shaun.  We are in day 2 of this tournament.  We have played so very physical teams and hard teams.  We managed to squeak out a win 3 out of 3 games.  Playoffs start this afternoon so I thought I would squeeze in a quick post between games since I didn’t post anything on Wednesday.  And that would be because Sunday the washer died and I ended up running around all over town to get a new washer and dryer by Wednesday so we could finish washing clothes for hockey.  Very little sewing really happened at the sewing machine. Quilt Diary: May Easy Pieced Table Runner Finish!!!

This is my second finish for this quarter which puts me ahead of last quarter already (lol!).  I am excited to have finished this table runner.  This series has it all for someone like me who is a wee bit ADD.  I like to work on multiple things and get bored easily.  There is piecing, applique, embroidery, and quilting.  There was the planning of the colors because I choose not to purchase the kit that is offered (but the pattern is free!)  When I redid my kitchen, my main decorating color has been teal.  I am not saying other things won’t look great, but I really didn’t have any nice table runners, place-mats or anything.  Since I am going to do them, I want things to go more with the chosen gray and teal decor.  This was my second such project. (See Christmas set here.)  Out of my Quilty Box was this gorgeous fat quarters that I thought was perfect.  This fabric line (Moda Walkabout) has been fun with the the stripes.

Quilt Diary: A look back on June and 2nd Quarter and reset for July and 3rd Quarter Goals

Sadly, the only project I finished second quarter was my Strawberry mug rugs in May.  I just can’t seem to be disappointed with all the progress I did make on my projects.  They just didn’t get finished.  I didn’t even finish my June One Monthly Goal with Elm Street.  But oh the progress I have made!  I think Quarter 3 will be a big quarter for finishes.

Quilt Diary: June 2019 here we come!

It is hard to believe it is June already.  I keep thinking I am going to get some large amount of free time.  Haha!  I am living in a fantasyworld, right?
