Happy Valentine’s Day!
Welcome back everyone! How many of you watched the Super Bowl on Sunday? Or was that a great time for you to disappear into your sewing room undisturbed. I am a sports fanatic so even though I am not big into football (especially when my 49ers were eliminated by the Eagles the prior week), I did have it on while I tootled around the house. It turned out to be a great week for me!
Continue reading “To Do Tuesday #38”My word of 2023 is ENRICH. I want to spend this year doing things that enrich my life. One of the things that I chose was switching over to a digital planner. Of course, this is a slow process as I am definitely a paper and pen gal in general. I still get my bills in the mail even though I pay everything online. So this is an interesting journey in general. BUT moving my Monthly goals, Weekly Goals, and Daily To Do’s to the digital planner has been absolutely awesome! I love “lassoing” an item I didn’t do yesterday and dragging it to what day I think I will do it. Or duplicating an entry (such as To Do Tuesday) and just dragging it to the next Tuesday. With that said, I feel like this week has been particularly productive. Obviously, I still didn’t complete everything on my list, but I sure got pretty far!

My experiment with 24 hours of quilting was overall a success. It didn’t got quite how I was picturing it. I only got in 16 hours of quilting. Yet I still got way more done than I normally would in a weekend. I may have to rethink and plan a little better for next time. Not bad for my first quilting marathon.

I even consider myself computer savy (LOL), but I have been working on this for an hour…. I usually like to use my Ipad to write the blog because it is so much easier to insert photos but I am back to my laptop in an effort to get this blog written and hope WordPress fixes the apple app soon. Hopefully you will still enjoy the blog.

My 2020 first quarter goals for Finish-A-Long
We are starting this post making my list for first quarter. I already posted on Instagram (@quiltadventures) on Friday night. Some of these have been on the list for a while. For the old ones, I added them to my All People Quilt Resolution 2020. I will tag those items as I go. Hi Everyone! I finally finished all the blocks for the Mama Gypsy Quilt QAL that ended August 31st. I liked this pattern and it is a great way to show off some special focus fabric. This pattern was tooted a fat quarter friendly pattern, but I would have to disagree with that. Yes you can use fat quarters, but do not expect to use just fat quarters and the background fabric for this entire quilt. With the challenges of fabric placement that I faced in this pattern, I would be inclined to use fat quarters for all the large area blocks with some fat quarters from a fat quarter set, but the accents and diamonds that are formed, that is questionable. I did not have enough diversity in one fat quarter bundle to do this nor could one fat quarter cut all four triangles. Now pulling from your stash, that is a real possibility to use all fat quarters. September is here and it is time to linkup with Elm Street Quilts for the One Monthly Goal. I have been thinking about this for the last few days wondering what I should commit to. Thinking about what is close to being done and I just need a little push. I narrowed down to four possibilities: Schoolhouse mug rugs, Blooming Pansies, Autumn wall hanging, or pulling out my Halloween/October placemats. The verdict is: Halloween/October placemats! It is time to pull them out of the closet and finish them up. So I am committing to making four October placemats with my purple, black, and orange kitty fabric. See above for sample. Woohoo! I surprised myself with getting this finish done last night. It really helped walking through the steps on Wednesday with you guys. It gave me a plan and a focus which everyone knows is sometimes a wee bit challenging for me. Squirrel! Thursday night I was agonizing over how I was going to quilt this. I awoke on Friday with inspiration from the fabric for this one. Quilting a 11 x 20 wall hanging is easy compared to quilting a queen-size quilt I guess. I have been so focused on piecing bed size quilts that I have not really done very many small projects. Practice does make you better that is for sure! So here are a few closeups of the Blooming Apples.
