QUILT DIARY: Under the Needle in February 2021

Same as in January, I have focused mostly on my free motion quilting and have really neglected my other sewing projects. You throw in a trip to Florida the last week of February and I really shut down my own progress. #sigh I apologize for the week late post.

QUILT DIARY: What’s Under my needle in November

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving and next week will be December. Where has the time gone? We just went back to tighter covid regulations including a curfew statewide in California of 10pm. If you are out after that you need a note.

QUILT DIARY: October Sewalong Updates

I finally hit a wall and have had to take a step back. I had so many sewalongs going on that I fell behind and then I was feeling terrible about myself. When I realized I wasn’t having fun anymore, I dropped the idea of joining two more sewalongs starting at the end of September and beginning of October.

Quilt Diary: New Year’s Resolutions-Self Care

Holidays were full of family, friends, celebrations, and hockey.  As for most of you, there was not a lot of time to sew in the past two weeks.  I am sure no one is surprised.  Just got home tonight from a hockey weekend in Anaheim.  I really thought I would have plenty of time to write my blog and get started on some of my new projects.  (lol – such an optimist). Where to start?  Continue reading “Quilt Diary: New Year’s Resolutions-Self Care”

Quilt Diary: First finish of Quarter 4 – Holiday Tablecloths & Turkey Wooly Mug Rugs

It is so hard to believe that it has already been two weeks since I last posted.  I guess with the Thanksgiving holiday it only sped up the days!  I finished both reversible tablecloths in time to take to Canada.  I was very stoked to actually finish in a timely manner!  For me, being reversible was very challenging.  I had thought that the same design on both sides would make it easier.  I never could get them lined up exactly right which was very apparent when I was semi-stitching in the ditch.  Because I used a “matching” thread, it was only noticeable to myself, the maker.  I have decided that if I do a reversible anything again to do an all over quilting versus following my “block” pattern.  What a wonderful problem to have, right? Quilt Diary: November Project Update

We have been back for almost two weeks, yet I don’t feel like I have any time to sew.  I have been putting in a lot of hours at work.  Meetings all day and my actual work at night and weekends.  Every November seems to get like this.  Just Crazy!  When I get home, I am exhausted.  There is no food in the house again.  #sigh  I currently am not seeing an end to this grueling pace.  I will get a break next week when we head to Halifax for American Thanksgiving.  That will be nice. Quilt Diary: Home for the Weekend

This is my first weekend home for a few weeks.  Looking at my November and December schedules, it looks like I will be home more than not for once.  This fall has been crazy busy with hockey tournaments.  We will be heading out again this weekend for a weekend of hockey in Long Beach!  Let’s get started on what I have been working on this weekend. Quilt Diary: Outdoor Patio Tablecloth finish!

I wanted to share my tablecloth that I made for my daughter’s outdoor patio table.  I mentioned last time, I decided to put batting in because it was outside.  It is a double-sided tablecloth (or topper).  The above model’s name is Ozzie and he 100% approved the new table topper!  I will be linking this 3rd quarter finish up with Capitola Quilter for the 2019 Finish-a-long.  My original list can be found here. Quilt Diary: Rag Baby Quilt & Burp Clothes Finish

Well that totally sucked!  I was almost done with my post and it disappeared.  Can I write it again as good as I did the first time.  Good question.  I am at Chicago O’Hare airport waiting for my rescheduled flight to Halifax.  Boston is storming and they have cancelled flights in and out.  I was the lucky one, I did it when I realized my connection was cancelled.  Currently the plan has me still arriving in the same day!  Yippee! Quilt Diary: May Easy Pieced Table Runner Finish!!!

This is my second finish for this quarter which puts me ahead of last quarter already (lol!).  I am excited to have finished this table runner.  This series has it all for someone like me who is a wee bit ADD.  I like to work on multiple things and get bored easily.  There is piecing, applique, embroidery, and quilting.  There was the planning of the colors because I choose not to purchase the kit that is offered (but the pattern is free!)  When I redid my kitchen, my main decorating color has been teal.  I am not saying other things won’t look great, but I really didn’t have any nice table runners, place-mats or anything.  Since I am going to do them, I want things to go more with the chosen gray and teal decor.  This was my second such project. (See Christmas set here.)  Out of my Quilty Box was this gorgeous fat quarters that I thought was perfect.  This fabric line (Moda Walkabout) has been fun with the the stripes.
