To Do Tuesday #161

Oops! Had an unexpected trip last week. Left Tuesday for San Jose, California and got back home Sunday night. Accomplished what I needed but not everything I wanted. With the Thanksgiving holiday and the trip, I didn’t get any sewing done until yesterday.

I will be linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday. Check it out!

Project Updates

I only got to work on three projects this past couple of weeks. Let’s take a look.

Lori Holt’s Autumn Seeds Quilt
Trimmed 1.5 inch hst for Autumn #2 block

I cut all the pieces for this block before I left. Yesterday I sewed and trimmed 24 of these 1.5 inch half square triangle blocks that, as you can see, will the bear’s claws in this tradional bear claw block.

Strip Club’s Starts Aligned Throw Quilt
Flying Geese pieces ready for trimming

Finished the last of the red background flying geese. These paisley’s are cute. I stilled need to trim them to match all the others.

I also came across some fabric that could be a good border for this quilt in my stash. I also found all the fabrics I picked up from the Shop Hop I participated in September.

Churn Dash Leaders and Enders project

Although I have been using the flying geese units from Stars Aligned as a leaders and enders project, I felt the desire to work on another churn dash blocks. I have I mentioned that this is one of my favorite blocks. This one happens to be blue. The pile of blocks is growing.

Miscellaneous Items checked off the To Do List

This month I originally was going to expand from 4 place settings to 6 for my Thanksgiving placemats, coasters, and napkins. Ran out of time, so I am dropping this from my list as I never started it.

Found my Oregon Shop Hop fabrics!

Musings

Some weeks it feels like for every step forward, I take one back. I am putting together a plan for 2026 with a theme of “play”. I talked a lot with my sister about my feelings of failures and my fear of messing up a lot of the past couple of weeks. Driving home from San Jose, I happened to listen to Windowsill Chat with Kate Smith which really helped me with my current mojo struggle. One of the main topics was the need for creatives to play. That is when they are the most creative. When we have structured play (such as 15 minutes a day), while it is good, it doesn’t release the creative flow as well as giving yourself permission to play. They were even talking about sometimes it is even better to play in an area where you are considered a rookie.

End of the day, we have to lower our expectations of perfection and enjoy the process and pure joy of creating. I am not sure if that will happen for the few weeks of 2025 left, but I am working on a game plan to “PLAY”. I think playing could really help get my mojo flowing again as well as experience fun again!

My other area I want to make progress on in 2026 is the setup of the sewing studio. Another suggestion (not new but nice reminder) was to do one thing each day. Obviously you can do more, but one thing – one fabric sorted, one project kitted, one rotarty cutter put away, etc. – every day means that by the end of the year you have completed 365 things.

I started that yesterday. I went into the long arm room and emptied one bag. It turned out to be my Shop Hop bag I have been looking for! So happy. This morning, I picked up another piece of fabric from a bag to put away. Realized that it would be PERFECT for my Stars Aligned quilt border. I am sure not every day will reward me with such finds. Progress is where I am headed.

I am enjoying this rainy Tuesday here in the PNW. Happy creating my friends. Thank you for stopping by. Join me on Friday when I update you on my cross stitch projects.

  1. Peggy I love the “one thing a day” plan and will be trying to implement it as I go through my storage room again to purge and downsize and get things ready to donate to my Guild’s annual fundraising sale. What fun that your new plan resulted in finding fabrics you’ve been looking for. I’ll be watching for studio photos as you make more progress. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. Hope you’ve had another week getting things done and even getting more stitching time in. I always love seeing your projects and progress 🤗

  2. You have some really fun projects in progress. Hope you find the keys to unlock your mojo. It is that time of year to consider what next year should look like.
