Floss Friday #71

Just a few days left in 2023. Can you believe it?! The year has flown by and I am wondering how that happened. Yesterday was a planning day with my sister Dorothy. Ya’ll all know how much I love to plan!

This week has been with my grandson’s hockey tournament. It was nice it was local. They play in the Championship game tomorrow..🤞

Starts & Finishes

No new starts or finishes this week.

WIPGO Update

I have to put together my Wipgo Board for 2024 still. Hopefully I will have some time to think about that today. For December, I hit all my goals so I am happy.

2023 WIPGO was a lot of fun and very productive. Can’t wait to get the 2024 board setup.

Project #12: Snowballs for Sale by Lori Holt Bee in my Bonnet

My goal for the month was to work on this project five times during December. I was able to do that on vacation to Whistler/Seattle last week. Working on the 25 count lugana has been very slowing, therefore, my progress is so slooow. I found that working on the “twinkles” in the snowman helped because then I just had to fill in white between twinkles.

I made a mistake on my last day because my twinkles were not lining up. I unstitched twice before finally getting it right on the third time. Whew! Then I decided to call it all good and headed to the airport. LOL!

Project #20: June Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs

While my goal for this project was also to work on five times in December. I finished it in 3. Yea for me!

WIP Updates

Once I got home I had some time to work on some of my other WIPs. I forgot but I did work on my Snowman Collector when I was on vacation. Let’s take a peek 👀

Snowman Collector: The Clown by Cottage Garden Samplings

I don’t know why, but I find working on the Clown super easy and fun. I feel like I am flying through this chart. I planned working on this project three times in December and was very successful with that plan. Look at the progress!

Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embrodiery

This project’s goal was three times in December also. I felt like I got so much done but looking at the before and after it doesn’t look like much. I did finish the octagon on the middle left. It looks s so good.

Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore

My lighting sucked when I took the December photo. The fabric is a purple more like the February 2023 shot. The plan was to work on this twice this month and I did do that. After redoing the border on Day 6, I finished up Day 4 and started Day 7. Did I mention I absolutely love this chart?!

June Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives

It is hard to get up to work on no Christmas/Winter projects (at least for me). So I working on my series that have summer themes only once during the month. I was actually pleased with the progress I made on this. I was reviewing the chart. I need to finish the right border which has one flower and two strawberries, then I will just have a thousand strawberries for the top border to finish. LOL!

Upcoming Plans & Thoughts

It is planning season, my favorite time of the year. I have been working out how I want to proceed with my Cross Stitch Log and Cross Stitch Journal. 2023 found me switching mid year to digital planning because I love the flexibility and ease I have with the digital version I use in the app Goodnotes. My Log (paper bullet journal which has details on each project along with an index.) is almost full and will definitely be full very quickly in 2024. While I have toyed with moving the Log to digital, I decided against it for 2024. For now that portion will stay on paper.

The journalling and planning part is going 100% digital and I have been developing my own page templates to use. I am actually excited with what I have put together. I will experiment with the digital Log this year by keeping the projects digitally and paper until I decide what I like and fill up my paper logs. Pros are the accessiblity and ease of use. Con is nothing to write on. I still like to write on real paper.

I am going to be setting up a “Yearly” paper bullet journal this year with all my WIPS using a dutch door to flip through the pages. I am not sure if it will work how I want but we will see how it goes. I kinda of tried to do it digitally this year but felt I spent a lot of time copying and pasting each month. 2022 I did it on paper and got tired of rewriting my list. So hopefully, the dutch door method will work! I have an excel sheet but it has been tough to maintain. Should the starts be a seperate list or just added on the WIPS?

I love experimenting and planning! Thank goodness I am retired and have the time to play!

I have the end of December planned out but not January setup yet. BUT I think I will be working on:

  • Mr. August (A Calendar Gnome)
  • July Trucking Along
  • Winter Camper (which I hate to work on so I have to force myself)
  • October Stackables (hope to finish up)
  • December Temperature Butterfly
  • Start December Snapshot
  • Start Autumn Basket #2
  • Start Prairie Schooler Santa

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm and dry everyone!
