Welcome back to my quilty blog! This week was pretty good but most of it was spent in class learning my new Bernina 990 and everything it can do (which is everything but cook me dinner!). I am very excited at the possibilities. Not only does it have a laser light (where the needle is) but it also has a camera. It can even count my stitches and automatically stop when I am chain piecing! How crazy right? I don’t actually do a lot of chain piecing because I like sampler quilts or to build pictures of some kind.
I didn’t realize that it has been two weeks since I posted to my quilty blog. Two weeks in a row commuting to multiple day classes left me more exhausted than I remembered. Obviously, I am feeling as fresh as a daisy today!😂

WIP Update
Only worked on a few projects this week. I thought I was going to spend more time in the sewing room over the weekend, but ended up catching up on chores from being gone all week.
Super Nova by Tula Pink using Pink Door Fabrics BOM: Tula Pink Floral Reef Colorway
In the past two weeks I finished the 3rd round (squiggle color lines) and started building my rainbow of stars for round 4. I have 5 of 10 done. I will also need to decide how I want to put together this round which also includes some very dark charcoal pieces. Some people broke up the star and attached it to the charcoal pieces so they would have one long seam to sew (versus Y seams). I was afraid I would mess stuff up if I did it that way. Here is another look at the block I am making:
As you can see, I have choices to make on how I put it together. With English Paper Piecing, Y seams are pretty easy and don’t bother me. Of course, if I can, I do try to stitch long seams so I have less tie-offs.
Autumn Seed Pumpkin Quilt Block 9 by Lori Holt (Bee in My Bonnet)
This one has taken me a while to put together the center block for the pumpkin. Lots of tiny pieces but I finally finished it. I was able to assemble the leaf and stem as well. Now I just need to assemble the pumpkin and add the border. It is hard to believe I am working on the last block for the quilt. Not to worry. Lots more piecing to do as this quilt has a pieced sashing and corner stones. I plan to finish the block in August.
July Monthly Color Challenge Block with Patterns by Jen
There was several times while assembling this block I freaked out thinking I put it together wrong. The center row of the block is twice as big as the outside rows. I definitely love how this one turned out. Yes! I am still using Alison Glass prints for this Monthly Color Challenge. This month was black & white. I downloaded August and it is Tan & Cream so another neutral block.
Abby Rose Churn Dash quilt blocks (leaders and enders project)
I did finish my final Abby Rose (collection name) churn dash block in July! Now I just need to decide how I will assemble this enders and leaders quilt blocks. Need to jump on my EQ8 and play around with layouts! When I started the project I did a basic color layout on paper but not a quilt layout. And I need to finally pull the trigger and get my design wall ordered and up.

Musings
With so much information in my head, I have the rest of August to use it. This month I have attended a 2 day cross stitch finishing workshop, 3 day Bernina 990 class, and an all day Guild Workshop on how to prep quilts for entry into the quilt show and some other odds and ends. I didn’t actually actively work on those projects. My brain was mush but for $10 I figured I couldn’t go wrong! I was also gifted one more class that is on August 15th with Sharon Moore on making quilts with a speciality wedge ruler. I hope to pull it out this weekend to see what I need to bring!
My son-in-law was kind enough to come by to take my Bernina 990 down the stairs and load into my truck for class and he came back yesterday to take it back upstairs so I can use it! I am thinking I will use some of the knowledge I just gained and quilt my table runner and my Turkey on the new machine. Both are small projects and will fit in the hoop.
