The second quarter of 2020 has flown by even though we are in quarantine. It seems like a life time ago that we didn’t have to wear masks in public. It is a strange time in history and I don’t see it changing. I have checked the WHO lately or some of the other scientific sites to see how close we are to a vaccination. When I checked last it was 18 months out. Crazy world. I would much rather hibernate in my quilting world. I feel very grateful that we have the internet and can shop and touch base with other quilters via social media. Video online classes – that seemed ridiculous until now right? With all that, I must say I have a very high expectation in my finishes and so I am trying not to beat myself up. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: 2020 Q2 Finishes & Q3 Goals”

Quilt Diary: June Projects Update
My boss has been in town this week (and next) as well as getting a visitor Monday night who will be staying indefinitely. His name is Jannes and he is from Germany. He was supposed to get his Canadian Visa by now and because of COVID-19 that hasn’t happened. He is hoping to be in Canada within the next two weeks. So we shall see. With so much going on, I have barely touched my project list this week.
On to updating you on all things quilty! Continue reading “Quilt Diary: June Projects Update”
Quilt Diary: June Goals and Update
I started a blog two months ago and never published it. I apologize for my inconsistency these past few months. I will try and close the gap and not make this too long of a blog. I have been busy with my projects as well as work and home.

Quilt Diary: Challenges and Sew-A-Longs April Update
As you saw last post, I have a ton of projects. I thought I would take this post to update you on everything that did NOT make the Finish-A-Long list. Those are challenges or projects that are more than three months long. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Challenges and Sew-A-Longs April Update”
Quilt Diary: Home for the Weekend
This is my first weekend home for a few weeks. Looking at my November and December schedules, it looks like I will be home more than not for once. This fall has been crazy busy with hockey tournaments. We will be heading out again this weekend for a weekend of hockey in Long Beach! Let’s get started on what I have been working on this weekend. Quilt Diary: Schoolhouse Mug Rug Finish
Coming to you from Starbucks Reserve in Cupertino at 6am. Yes – hockey. It’s been a busy week. I would love to say all the busy was quilting but my day job and my night job keep getting in the way. LOL! Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Schoolhouse Mug Rug Finish”
Quilt Diary: SAL Update
Coming to you from Denver today. On the road for hockey with my grandson Shaun. We are in day 2 of this tournament. We have played so very physical teams and hard teams. We managed to squeak out a win 3 out of 3 games. Playoffs start this afternoon so I thought I would squeeze in a quick post between games since I didn’t post anything on Wednesday. And that would be because Sunday the washer died and I ended up running around all over town to get a new washer and dryer by Wednesday so we could finish washing clothes for hockey. Very little sewing really happened at the sewing machine. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: SAL Update”
Quilt Diary: A Year In Words-Autumn Finish for Quarter 3 FAL 2019
Woohoo! Finally wrapped up this project that has been in my sewing room for over a year. It felt good to hang it on the wall yesterday. I absolutely love the hanger I purchased from Ackfeld Manufacturing a month ago. I did not realized that the leaves were colored until I took it out of the package. So nice! My larger series, I usually buy one hanger for the series. I haven’t decided if I will continue using this hanger for the whole series. I originally bought the WELCOME hanger for this series but decided it was too many words. We shall see. For now, I am very pleased at the end result! Here are a few more photos of the final process this week.

Quilt Diary: Mama Gypsy Update
Hi Everyone! I finally finished all the blocks for the Mama Gypsy Quilt QAL that ended August 31st. I liked this pattern and it is a great way to show off some special focus fabric. This pattern was tooted a fat quarter friendly pattern, but I would have to disagree with that. Yes you can use fat quarters, but do not expect to use just fat quarters and the background fabric for this entire quilt. With the challenges of fabric placement that I faced in this pattern, I would be inclined to use fat quarters for all the large area blocks with some fat quarters from a fat quarter set, but the accents and diamonds that are formed, that is questionable. I did not have enough diversity in one fat quarter bundle to do this nor could one fat quarter cut all four triangles. Now pulling from your stash, that is a real possibility to use all fat quarters. I ended up using my half-yard bundle to get a satisfactory layout. I am very happy with my layout. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Mama Gypsy Update”
Quilt Diary: Blooming Series – Apples finish
Woohoo! I surprised myself with getting this finish done last night. It really helped walking through the steps on Wednesday with you guys. It gave me a plan and a focus which everyone knows is sometimes a wee bit challenging for me. Squirrel! Thursday night I was agonizing over how I was going to quilt this. I awoke on Friday with inspiration from the fabric for this one. Quilting a 11 x 20 wall hanging is easy compared to quilting a queen-size quilt I guess. I have been so focused on piecing bed size quilts that I have not really done very many small projects. Practice does make you better that is for sure! So here are a few closeups of the Blooming Apples.
