Floss Friday #201

Welcome back my Stitchy Friends! Another fun filled busy week here in the Pacific Northwest. The rain has been holding off and we have been enjoying a glorious Indian Summer (Fall). I am taking every sunny day to heart and loving each moment.

New Starts & Finishes

Had one new start this week! But no new finishes…

Passing Through by Hello Liz Matthews

I found this lovely green (yes I still hate green but sometimes when the green fits….). It is 18 ct Woodland aida by Picture This Plus. I could not find anyone who carried the called for Seaweed fabric. I sorta checked that both greens will work. So far I have only used the lightest green and it looks fine. I am loving how the orange pops on the dark green fabric. So far I am using the called for DMC threads.

I didn’t get far in the stitching as I still had to set up the file in Markup R-XP and it was my first time since the upgrade. I had to watch a video… The process is actually a lot more streamlined than before. I hope to get a little more in on it before the end of the month but we shall see.

WIP Updates

I got some good stitching time this week. Some days more than others but feeling good about the progress.

Oct WIPGO #11: Quaker Happy Holidays by OracleTales

Finished up the reindeer this week and started on the corner motif. It is exciting seeing this one make progress.

Oct WIPGO #8: HOD Ornament Club: Merry Moments #3 by Hands On Design
Plaid Tidings WIP 10/17/2026

I got some good quality time with this one. I was able to finish all the plaid “presents” and started on the light red line that will make this into a plaid for sure. Feeling confident this one will definitely be finished this month!

Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

It is hard to believe that I am working on the final motif for this project. It was my first multi page project and it sure is HUGE. I hit my goal of 400. This is being stitched on 18 ct white aida (very dirty after five years) and weeks dye works floss (esmeralda & lagoon).

Jan WIPGO #2: Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore

I am seeriously on the home stretch on this one. I am finished the trees and most of the snowflakes. All that is left is one more cardinal, a few more snow flakes, and “December 21”. So very close. This is being stitched on 16ct Picture This Plus Whimsey aida with the called for DMC floss.

Make Today Count by Hands on Design

All the easy stuff is done (the middle and stitchy outline around words). Now I have to work on the borders. This week I finished the stitchy outline and the lefthand border (including backstitching 🙄). Next up is the bottom border which includes a cute little house (whose smoke I already stitched).

I am stitching on 16 ct black Aida with the called for DMC floss.

Fieldguide to Dragons by Climbing Goat Designs
Fieldguide to Dragons WIP 10/22/2026

This is the first time I have stitched this one since Markup R-XP upgrade. I decided to take advantage of the merge symbol feature of the upgrade. It took a little time but am super pleased with the results! (Had to search help for the function and it ended up being in the Set Symbols section of setup). I love how easy it is to merge all the pages now. It is making stitching the dragon so much easier! My goal was 400 but I just did over 300.

Plans & Reflections

Once again I hit my plan 100% this week which makes me feel like I am trending in the right direction finally. Who knew it would take so long to settle in to a new place.

I received my supplies this week for making drums (the wool arrived this week and I am loving it. Found it on 123 Stitch). I have some other finishes that I need to do this week – Sweets for Santa and Light the Way (Merry Moments Ornaments) before I do my next drum finish.

Thinking my stitching this week will be:

  • Plaid Tidings
  • Quaker Happy Holidays
  • April Month 2 Month Barn
  • Start November Square Dance (and finish?)
  • Crescent City Velaris
  • Passing Through (👻)
  • Final Finish Sweets for Santa
  • Final Finish Light the Way

So that is a wrap for this week. Thank you for stopping by and sharing in my stitching journey. Until next week!

Have a great weekend,

Peggy Stockwell in Vancouver, Washington
