To Do Tuesday #52

Happy 4th of July! The heatwave in San Jose finally broke and we will be having a cool day of only 84 F here. It’s a relief after the 100 degree temperatures we had over the past week. I am not complaining because I know that we have a “dry” heat here compared to other parts of the country. At least when I step outside the house, I am not soaking wet immediately due to the humidity. I am truly grateful for that.

I will be hooking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt again this week for To Do Tuesday. Drop by and check out all the inspiring projects that people are working on.

What Got Done this Week

With all the heat, I have been puttering around the house doing this and that. This week also found 100 days 100 blocks SAL starting on July 1st. I have been posting every day on my instagram account @quiltadventures if you want to check it out. Or follow the tag #100days100blocks2023 This year features @gnomeangel pattern Maple & Eucalyptus

Let’s take a look at what all I did get done.

  1. Finished #100days100blocks2023 Blocks 2-4 and Blocks 5-6 are cut.
  2. One of my most proud moments was when I finished one of my cross stitch projects into a pillow. I just love how it turned out. Check it out in last Friday’s blog Here
  3. Finished Scrappiness is Happiness block Grandma’s Donut
  4. Finished July 4th 365 block
  5. Finished rebinding all four of my February pink placemats after they started fraying.
  6. Finally started sewing Queen of Diamonds english paper piecing Block 1-1. Blocks 1-1 & 1-2 are prepped already.

Hmmm. Not so many # items but I still got a lot done.

To Do List for Week of July 4th

I forgot how time consuming the 100 days 100 blocks is. I am no longer ahead and so I have to start kicking things into high gear here to get a little breathing room so I can work on other projects still. This is the possiblities for this week.

  1. For #100days100blocks2023 cut the next six blocks (blocks 7-12)
  2. For #100days100blocks2023 sew blocks 5-10
  3. For Queen of Diamonds SAL – Finish block 1-1
  4. For APQResolution – Look up to see what quilt #7 is???
  5. Free motion quilt On Wander Lane – Shamrock Ridge
  6. Cut & Sew Block 13 of Sweet Childhood Memories
  7. Sew July 5th & 8th 365 blocks
  8. Cut July 7th – 12th blocks
  9. Finish another churn dash block
  10. Use Daydreamer 4 patch blocks as enders and leaders this week. See how many I can get sewn.
  11. Cut and sew 2 large wheel blocks from section 1 of the Tula Pink butterfly quilt
  12. Cut the 24 half square triangles from section 1 of the Tula Pink butterfly quilt
  13. Cut next 2 Scrappiness is Happiness blocks: Granny Star Block & In Flight Blocks (x2)
  14. Finish Ruby’s Garden block started
  15. Cut both borders for the Rainbow HST quilt
  16. Applique Welcome Friends Backdoor Banner with yellow thread and finish yellow stitch in the ditch.
  17. Finish Patriotic project bag.
  18. Clean up thread mess.
  19. Finish sewing front of Butternut & Slate project bag.
  20. Cut & Sew blocks for Patriotic table runner.

There is no way I am going to get all of those done, but I don’t want to forget the next step in my active projects. I think once I finish the churn dash block I already have laid out to sew, those are going on hold until after 100 days is done in October. Just too much to do.

I’d really like to get my first project bag under my belt so I can feel more comfortable with the whole zipper thing. It has been years since I put a zipper in so I just need to refresh myself with that.

Afterthoughts

I got a lot of happy mail this week!

Aren’t these fabrics beautiful from Alison Glass. Yes I am a HUGE fan. I just love her use of color and, of course, who can resist a rainbow of colors. Petting all this fabric must have taken a couple of hours. I just love quilting cotton!

Thank you very much for continuting on this quilting journey with me as I explore new quilting adventures. I just about love all the wonderful ways you can quilt – appliqué, piecing, free motion, english paper piecing.

Have a great Fourth of July!

  1. Wow! Looks like you got a lot done last week. I’m impressed with your to do list. It will keep you focused on what is important to do over the week. I tend to get waylaid during a week. I frequently look at my small list to keep on track. I understand your heat — I do live where the humidity and heat have been bad. Today was a bit better.
