Quilt Diary: Online Quilt Festivals?

I just attended my first Online Quilt Festival with Mancuso.  They ran a Facebook Live all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Everything was based in the Eastern Time Zone which was a problem for me but I know they were doing the best they could.  I had planned on spending time on Friday checking everything out before my class on Saturday.  The day ended up getting away from me and I didn’t actually do any of the normal things.  Hopefully someone out there can give more details on how it works.

My class today was good.  I actually stayed up better.  How much of that was because I was in my own sewing studio and didn’t have to borrow something I forgot and how much of that I wasn’t walking around the classroom looking at everyone’s stuff, I can’t say for sure.  Zoom sure did allow everyone to see what the teacher is doing without peeking over a shoulder here or a head there.  Overall, I thought it went very well.  I took the Hunter’s Star class with Quilt Maven Dave Sirota.  I took a class using his technique a few years ago but I felt more stuck this time.  I just wish I didn’t have to get up at 5:30am my time to do.  Still, well worth it.img_4623

Cross Stitch Diary: Let’s Begin

I have officially started multiple cross stitch projects so I will be doing at least a Cross Stitch Diary once a month depending on what is happening.  Here we go! Continue reading “Cross Stitch Diary: Let’s Begin”

Quilt Diary: June Projects Update

My boss has been in town this week (and next) as well as getting a visitor Monday night who will be staying indefinitely.  His name is Jannes and he is from Germany.  He was supposed to get his Canadian Visa by now and because of COVID-19 that hasn’t happened.  He is hoping to be in Canada within the next two weeks.  So we shall see.  With so much going on, I have barely touched my project list this week.

On to updating you on all things quilty! Continue reading “Quilt Diary: June Projects Update”

Quilt Diary: June Goals and Update

I started a blog two months ago and never published it.  I apologize for my inconsistency these past few months.  I will try and close the gap and not make this too long of a blog.  I have been busy with my projects as well as work and home.

Quilt Diary: March Madness

I gave some serious consideration to not putting this blog under the Quilt Diary label but decided screw it.  I’ve been living in a world of secrets for the past 15 months.  You know how some of you have secret sewing, I had secret business deal in the works.  It finally came out in the open on March 2nd when we announced our company was being sold and the deal was closed on March 11th.  I am officially self-employed now.  The past two weeks have been high stress, emotional, and ton of work.  I have worked 12 hour days for 12 days straight which left zero time to quilt and I mean ZERO.  This has been the hardest part of the past two weeks as I use quilting to keep my sanity.  While it has been three weeks since I posted a blog, not a lot of things have happened in my quilting world due to work life.  So let’s see if I can get you updated on the good stuff! Quilt Diary: February 2020 Goals

Time flies by!  It has already been another week. I thought I could update you on what I have been doing this week towards my February goals.  Even though this is a big travel month, I do also have some home time.  I think it will end up being a very balanced month.  My daughter is coming for a visit next week.  She is going to watch Shaun play hockey next weekend and come home with us.  Then her boyfriend will be flying up and the two of them will be skiing for a week.  When she gets back, Shaun and I will be gone to another hockey tournament.  Including this weekend, that is 3 weekends of hockey, hockey, hockey.  There is only one weekend without hockey and luckily Caitlin will be here.

On to quilting….. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: February 2020 Goals”

Quilt Diary: January 2020 Wrap Up

As I begin this blog it is Saturday morning, February 1st.  On our way to tutoring (and Starbucks), I realized I haven’t posted for awhile.  I’m torn between giving a rundown on everything or sticking to one area.  When I do the rundowns, they are such a long post.  I keep meaning to have more posts but shorter.  #sigh So far that has been a pipe dream.  As the title suggests, I have decided to do the rundown on what I have done the past two weeks.  Hopefully, this post will not go on and on. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: January 2020 Wrap Up”

Quilt Diary: Home for the Weekend

This is my first weekend home for a few weeks.  Looking at my November and December schedules, it looks like I will be home more than not for once.  This fall has been crazy busy with hockey tournaments.  We will be heading out again this weekend for a weekend of hockey in Long Beach!  Let’s get started on what I have been working on this weekend. Quilt Diary: Schoolhouse Mug Rug Finish

Coming to you from Starbucks Reserve in Cupertino at 6am.  Yes – hockey.  It’s been a busy week.  I would love to say all the busy was quilting but my day job and my night job keep getting in the way.  LOL! Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Schoolhouse Mug Rug Finish”

Quilt Diary: Blooming Series – Apples finish

Woohoo!  I surprised myself with getting this finish done last night.  It really helped walking through the steps on Wednesday with you guys.  It gave me a plan and a focus which everyone knows is sometimes a wee bit challenging for me. Squirrel!  Thursday night I was agonizing over how I was going to quilt this.  I awoke on Friday with inspiration from the fabric for this one.  Quilting a 11 x 20 wall hanging is easy compared to quilting a queen-size quilt I guess.  I have been so focused on piecing bed size quilts that I have not really done very many small projects.  Practice does make you better that is for sure!  So here are a few closeups of the Blooming Apples.
