This is a crazy world we are living in right now. I will keep my thoughts and views to myself as I know I think very different than most people on what is happening in the world today. So let’s move on to more fun topics – like Quilting!! Continue reading “Quilt Diary: First APQResolution2020 finish!!!”

Quilt Diary: March Madness
I gave some serious consideration to not putting this blog under the Quilt Diary label but decided screw it. I’ve been living in a world of secrets for the past 15 months. You know how some of you have secret sewing, I had secret business deal in the works. It finally came out in the open on March 2nd when we announced our company was being sold and the deal was closed on March 11th. I am officially self-employed now. The past two weeks have been high stress, emotional, and ton of work. I have worked 12 hour days for 12 days straight which left zero time to quilt and I mean ZERO. This has been the hardest part of the past two weeks as I use quilting to keep my sanity. While it has been three weeks since I posted a blog, not a lot of things have happened in my quilting world due to work life. So let’s see if I can get you updated on the good stuff! Quilt Diary: February 2020 Goals
Time flies by! It has already been another week. I thought I could update you on what I have been doing this week towards my February goals. Even though this is a big travel month, I do also have some home time. I think it will end up being a very balanced month. My daughter is coming for a visit next week. She is going to watch Shaun play hockey next weekend and come home with us. Then her boyfriend will be flying up and the two of them will be skiing for a week. When she gets back, Shaun and I will be gone to another hockey tournament. Including this weekend, that is 3 weekends of hockey, hockey, hockey. There is only one weekend without hockey and luckily Caitlin will be here.
On to quilting….. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: February 2020 Goals”
Quilt Diary: January 2020 Wrap Up
As I begin this blog it is Saturday morning, February 1st. On our way to tutoring (and Starbucks), I realized I haven’t posted for awhile. I’m torn between giving a rundown on everything or sticking to one area. When I do the rundowns, they are such a long post. I keep meaning to have more posts but shorter. #sigh So far that has been a pipe dream. As the title suggests, I have decided to do the rundown on what I have done the past two weeks. Hopefully, this post will not go on and on. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: January 2020 Wrap Up”
Quilt Diary: Finish-A-Long 2020 Quarter 1 List
My 2020 first quarter goals for Finish-A-Long
We are starting this post making my list for first quarter. I already posted on Instagram (@quiltadventures) on Friday night. Some of these have been on the list for a while. For the old ones, I added them to my All People Quilt Resolution 2020. I will tag those items as I go. Because it is so random drawing for the #APQResolution2020, I included all of them in my quarterly goals just in case! Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Finish-A-Long 2020 Quarter 1 List”
Quilt Diary: First finish of Quarter 4 – Holiday Tablecloths & Turkey Wooly Mug Rugs
It is so hard to believe that it has already been two weeks since I last posted. I guess with the Thanksgiving holiday it only sped up the days! I finished both reversible tablecloths in time to take to Canada. I was very stoked to actually finish in a timely manner! For me, being reversible was very challenging. I had thought that the same design on both sides would make it easier. I never could get them lined up exactly right which was very apparent when I was semi-stitching in the ditch. Because I used a “matching” thread, it was only noticeable to myself, the maker. I have decided that if I do a reversible anything again to do an all over quilting versus following my “block” pattern. What a wonderful problem to have, right? Quilt Diary: November Project Update
We have been back for almost two weeks, yet I don’t feel like I have any time to sew. I have been putting in a lot of hours at work. Meetings all day and my actual work at night and weekends. Every November seems to get like this. Just Crazy! When I get home, I am exhausted. There is no food in the house again. #sigh I currently am not seeing an end to this grueling pace. I will get a break next week when we head to Halifax for American Thanksgiving. That will be nice. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: November Project Update”
Quilt Diary: Home for the Weekend
This is my first weekend home for a few weeks. Looking at my November and December schedules, it looks like I will be home more than not for once. This fall has been crazy busy with hockey tournaments. We will be heading out again this weekend for a weekend of hockey in Long Beach! Let’s get started on what I have been working on this weekend. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Home for the Weekend”
Quilt Diary: October One Monthly Goal
I missed my September One Monthly Goal, so I am resetting that same goal for October. I will finish 4 Halloween placemats. I was defeated by my sewing machine last month. Of course if I had not waited til the last week to press forward, it would have been a non issue. I just need to finish free motion quilting and binding these cute placemats. I am linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts. Quilting these 4 placemats are this week’s #onethingwithAmy goal as well.
Quilt Diary: Mama Gypsy Update
Hi Everyone! I finally finished all the blocks for the Mama Gypsy Quilt QAL that ended August 31st. I liked this pattern and it is a great way to show off some special focus fabric. This pattern was tooted a fat quarter friendly pattern, but I would have to disagree with that. Yes you can use fat quarters, but do not expect to use just fat quarters and the background fabric for this entire quilt. With the challenges of fabric placement that I faced in this pattern, I would be inclined to use fat quarters for all the large area blocks with some fat quarters from a fat quarter set, but the accents and diamonds that are formed, that is questionable. I did not have enough diversity in one fat quarter bundle to do this nor could one fat quarter cut all four triangles. Now pulling from your stash, that is a real possibility to use all fat quarters. I ended up using my half-yard bundle to get a satisfactory layout. I am very happy with my layout. Continue reading “Quilt Diary: Mama Gypsy Update”
