Happy Friday! It is a gorgeous Fall day here in San Jose. It is 90F and sunny. I had hoped to go for a hike today, but I am going to have to pass as it is way to hot for that. Instead I will end up going for a night walk when it cools off later. I am looking forward to it.
WIPGO Update
Let’s take a look how September went and what is on my plate for October.
September
First up was my Fruit of Plenty sampler that I started in 2021. I made some great progress during the month and hit my goal of working on it five times during September.
I made tremendous progress on The Needleworker. Unfortunately, I only got in 4 of the 5 sessions I planned for the month. Life happens. Meanwhile, I am super pleased with the progress. I am confident that I will finish it during October.
October
Project 14 turns out to be my Prim Stitch. I set a goal to either finish this project or to work on it for five nights.
Project 19 is my Sampler of the Month Series. With finishing up August, that means that I will be starting September. Once again my goal is to either finish or work on for five nights. I know I have finished this project before when I focused on it like 3 or 4 sittings. Hoping the same happens for September.
Final Finishes (FFO)
I have been working my Summer Baskets Triple Play Pillows by Hands on Designs. I finished making all the tops and cutting the batting, backing, and pillow forms. I was so excited to finish the first of the three pillows! So exciting. I have the second one ready for Big Stitch quilting.
Starts & Finishes
This month I am a bit ambitious. I have planned 6 starts and 8 finishes. A big ask right? On the other hand, there will be a Cross Stitch Marathon later in the month so I figure that is where I will start whatever hasn’t happened yet. It should all be fun!
START & FINISH: Hello October by Hands on Designs
This series is winding up. I have been successful staying current each month which is a big confidence booster. I can’t wait to add all the cute buttons when finishing this series. It has been stitched on 16ct white aida with called for DMC floss. I really enjoyed backstitching the cute inner border. Feels like it really added to the piece.
START: October Celebration by Hands on Designs
Love how this starts. That tree is fun to stitch. Not quite done yet, but such a cute design! I am stitching on 16ct beige aida with called for fancy floss.
WIP Updates
I missed one stitch night this past week because life happened. Still, I feel pretty good. Check out what I did get done.
2023 SJ Temperature Butterflies by Stitchin Mommy
I am a little behind with just finishing July and August butterflies last night, but that puts me back on track. Look how hot August was with all those reds and oranges. Just a few cool days (yellow). July was pretty toasty as well. I just love this fabric which is 14 ct vintage blue. I wish it came in other counts. I just love the mottled look.
I still need to update my chart for the September temperatures. I can’t wait to see what that butterfly will look like.
Snowman Collector: The Needleworker by Country Cottage Samplings
I can taste the finish on this one. There is one little corner left on the robe then the upper left-hand corner and this one is done! I have started pulling what I need for The Clown which is next in this series. Just love these vibrant colors.
June Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
I have to be honest. When I worked on this one last night, I really thought I was going to be able to finish. Instead, I finished the shell and started the bucket. So many projects close to being done. I am hoping to finish before the marathon so I can start my next stackables during the marathon. Keeping my fingers crossed. I am stitching on Fabric Flair White Pine Board. I really don’t see the design, but I bought enough for the whole series so I will keep plugging away.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
During 2023, I really set a goal to learn how to draw and work on my art. This is my first time sharing with all of you. (I feel like I have made enough progress that is actually shareable). I still have lots of practice to do, but I feel like I have made some progress with my art. LOL!
So…. I am thinking this upcoming week I won’t get a ton of stitching time because it is time for the annual quilt show and I am signed up for classes Thursday – Saturday. I will have house guests on Wednesday night. It is going to be a fun, busy week. Woohoo!
With that in mind, I am planning to work on the following projects:
- September Sampler of the Month
- Prim Stitch
- October Year of Celebration
- Snowman Collector: The Needleworker
- June Stackables
I am secretly hoping to finish the last 3 this week. It will all depend on how much stitch time I really get.
This weekend, I need to look at what my classes require to make sure I have everything I need. Oh my! I might have to go shopping. LOL! I also need to pull out my travel machine and use it this week so I remember what to do.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Enjoy the Indian Summer! Happy Stitching!
