To Do Tuesday #65

Hi Everyone! Hope you are having a fantastic October so far this month. This week is PIQF here in Northern California. So excited to see everyone and check out the vendors this year. I also signed up for a few classes starting on Thursday. I decided to take class from two of our local quilters this year and am so excited to meet them. It should be fun!

I am planning on linking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt again this week. Be sure to check out her blog for some inspiration with everyone linking up!

What Got Done This Week

While I didn’t work in my sewing studio every day, I did feel like I made some significant progress on several of my projects. I didn’t spend as much time sewing blocks, but did get quite a few cut.

Let’s take a look:

  • I was able to draw and fuse stars to my blocks for the Patriotic Table Runner. The pattern calls for only 5 blocks. I assembled them then went to check out on my island and decided to add the 6th block. I already cut borders so I may have to piece them to make long enough. I am excited about this table runner.
  • Finished block 63 and started block 64 for the 100 days 100 blocks 2023 which finished yesterday. I also cut blocks 66-68.
  • I was very excited to finish my cross stitch pillow for the Summer Basket Triple Play pillows. I have marked the second one to be quilted.
  • I finished assembling row 4 and attaching it to rows 1-3 for Dorothy’s Double Slice quilt. Halfway done!
  • The second border fabric arrived yesterday! I just love how it is going to look on my Rainbow Half Square Triangle quilt.
  • Another project that I made a ton of progress is Shamrock Ridge from the On Wander Lane QAL. I finished all the free motion quilting inside the quilt as well as the borders. I loved the result. I also made the hanging sleeve, label, and binding.
  • Cut October’s Monthly Color Challenge block (blue).
  • Cut Scrappiness is Happiness block: Neighborhood. I even started sewing it.
  • Look at how my threads are looking! I have finished through blues. I am thinking I may go back and add pink at the beginning of the reds and maybe put the grays in the middle of the greens – blues. I was originally planning on adding after the purples.
  • Used Daydreamer blocks as leaders/enders (no photo)

So excited to make this much progress this week. Felt good!

Afterthoughts

This week has been very hard not to start a new project. I have begun the process of gathering supplies for my upcoming classes which means there is a lot of fabric fondling going on. Fabric is so inspiring! I have been attempting to channel that inspiration into finishing a few projects that are close. Hence the finished pillow and the fmq done on Shamrock Ridge.

It also means that I am getting real antsy to schedule the long arm maintenance so I can work on finishing all the quilts that are ready to quilt. We will see how this week goes after classes. I may try and start to quilt before I schedule maintenance. I really want to finish all tweleve quilts on my APQ list in 2023. That means starting to quilt soon so I have time to bind afterwards. So.. pondering small projects that are close to completion. The amazing feeling after finishing the pillow has been inspiring to do more!

Everyone have a great week! Good luck on all your projects!
