Hope everyone’s 4th of July was good. Our heat wave finally broke so it was all good here. I have been busy stitching away here. Honestly, I feel like the week just flew by. I can’t believe that it is already July 7th!
Starts & Finishes
Lots of starts and finishes this week.
START: Let’s Talk Autumn (large) by Hands on Design
This is one my July WIPGO projects. See below for goal for this month. It is the last from this booklet that I need to finish. I am stitching on 16 ct black aida with the called for DMC floss. I adored stitching this cider.
June Stackables by FQS It’s Sew Emma
It was tough deciding which one to do next. I ended up choosing June just because I couldn’t resist stitching these adorable flip flops. I am stitching on 14 ct Fabric Flair White Marbeled Pine Board with the included Classic Colorworks floss.
START & FINISH: July Hello There by Hands on Design
I couldn’t put this one down last night. It was almost magically to realize that I was done with it. I just love these gorgeous DMC floss on the 16 ct white aida.
FINISH: Summer Baskets #2 by Hands on Design
There are a total of 3 charts in this booklet. This is the second one and I was not expecting to finish it but I got on a roll and just couldn’t put it down. I ended up stitching most of it without looking at the chart because it was so easy to follow. I just love these quilt motifs and can’t wait to finish number 3. This was stitched on 16 ct aida with called for DMC floss.
WIPGO Update
June was a pretty productive month on my WIPGO projects #4 and #16. #4 was my Hello There June project which was a start and finish in the month of June while #16 was my Snow Village. My goal was to stitch on it five times during the month of June. Goal achieved.
Project #9 is Let’s Talk Autumn (8×10 chart) by Hands on Design. This will be a new start which is above. Project #13 is Just My Type which I ended up finishing in June! Project #21 is October Cottage of the Month. I am excited to be focusing on this project which will be the last one I need to finish in the series by Country Cottage Needleworks. I started it last month so I haven’t gotten far yet. Below is the June WIP and the result of my first July night on this project.
WIP Updates
Started this week with the last day of June. See above for WIP update on Snow Village and October Cottage of the Month. Let’s take a look at all the non-WIPGO projects. There is only two left to look at.
Mr. July – A Calendar Gnome by Charlie’s Needle
I feel like we are coming into the home stretch with this one. I have a goal to finish this during July. I may be too ambitious by it just feels doable. I am not going to stress about it one way or the other. This week I finished all the boxes of fireworks. The barbque is next!
Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery
Once again I am setting aside three nights to at least put a thread or two in this one. It has been working and I feel like I am making great progress. This was my fourth of July progress. I am almost done with the May page. So exciting. The birds have been fun to stitch.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I have hemmed and hawed about which Tiny Town I want to start now (the same thing as I did on the Stackables). It looks like it will be Honey of a Tiny Town. Why? Well I have most of the floss and I have fabric I can use where as Patriotic and Seaside I don’t have what I need. I am going for it! I need to place my order for the missing floss today.
This month we have a #WIPGOweekend July 14-16 and #24hocsmarathon is July 21st-July 23rd. I am not sure if I am going to do both weekends or not. I definitely have plans to do July 14-16. For some reason I thought they were the same weekends until I actually went to put them down on the calendar today. Cross stitch problems (insert eye roll here).
The current plan for this upcoming week:
- Start July Year of Celebration (and hopefully finish)
- Snowman Collector (x2)
- October Cottage of the Month (x 2) (wipgo)
- Start Honey of a Tiny Town
- Let’s Talk Autumn (wipgo)
This will take me all the way to WIPGO Weekend. Hopefully by the time we talk next I will know what I want to do. I do have a marathon weekend planned out but no WIPGO weekend planned.
Got things to stitch and sew, so we will wrap this up for today. Thanks everyone for stopping by and taking a peek at my creative journey. Enjoy your weekend!!

Love the Snow Village, also the gnome. And as always the fruit of plenty greens are gorgeous. Hope you are having a great weekend!
