Welcome to another Friday. For June the weather is a bit cool here in San Jose, California but I will take it. Typically we get a heat wave sometime close to the Fourth of July. This week my AC unit stopped working and with the contractors at my house still working on the shower, I haven’t called a repair HVAC guy. If it is not one thing, it is another when you own a home. LOL!
Let’s take a look at what I worked on in my cross stitch adventures this week. I didn’t get to work on one of my projects because the fabric I had pulled was too small for the stitch. That got remedied yesterday when my order from Fat Quarter Shop came. I am still waiting for my 123 Stitch order to arrive. I hope it is here by Monday. I leave for a short trip with my Quilty friends to the Reno, NV area for a little friendship, shopping, and fun.
Starts & Finishes
This was a week of many starts. In recent months, I planned my monthly starts to be the first two weeks of the month. Figured that would give me more time to work on the projects. As mentioned above, I was unable to start one of my planned projects due to wrong fabric. Next week will be3 perfect.
START: June Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs
I am looking forward to this stitch. It gives a real summer vibe. I started on the camper trailer. This month this one has four “snapshots” instead of just three. I am stitching on 10ct Vintage Oatman aida by Lori Holt with the FQS floss kit.
START: Triple Play Pillows – Summer Baskets #2 by Hands on Design
When I couldn’t start Let’s Talk Summer, I realized that I had pulled this project which has 3 charts for the cutest patriotic quilty projects. I finished one last year. I pulled this one from my UFO pile so I could work on the other two charts this summer. Chart #2 is pretty easy to follow. I was happy to get 3 out of 9 stars done. Love these colors which are all DMC! I am stitching on 16 ct aida but I don’t remember the color. I will update you next time. HOD uses Stephanie’s fabrics so I am always having to replace with like colors. I know I used a Picture This Plus fabric, just not the color.
START & FINISH: June Nine Patch by Primrose Cottage Sttiches
This was stitched on 25 count white lugana with the called for DMC floss. This one was so much fun to stitch that I couldn’t put it down until I actually finished it. Watermelon, cherries, and picnic that include ants. How perfect!
START & FINISH: June Year of Celebration by Hands on Design
This was stitched on 16 ct dirty aida with the called for fancy flosses (Weeks Dye Works, Classic Colorworks, and Gentle Arts) with a little DMC floss thrown in. I enjoyed the nautical beachy theme.
WIPGO FINISH: June Hello There by Hands on Design
Another quick stitch. I just love these colors. This is definitely one I can’t wait to get to the final finish and add all the adorable buttons to each month. This was stitched on 16 ct white aida with the called for DMC floss.
WIP Updates
With so many new starts, I did not actually work on very many WIPs this week – only three.
WIPGO PROJECT: Snow Village by Country Cottage Needleworks
I worked on this for the first time this past week since like February I think. I was able to add all the details to the snowmen and worked on the last banner “SNOW”. I also rolled into working on the trees. This center piece chart is close to being done.
Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery
I got my first of three sessions on the May page. I really feel a lot of forward motion dedicating at least three nights out of the month. The tree of life is almost done. It has been easy to get from one side to the other with this one!
Just My Type by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop)
It felt so good to finish up this cute envelope with the valentine peeking through. I know it is the wrong time of year. I just feel so close to being done that I could put it away. I hope to finish this one during June. This was with my fabric and floss selections that I pulled from my stash. I really love it. I just have a postage stamp and a few hearts left. Whooo-hoo!
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I leave on Tuesday from my 4 days / 3 nights trip to Reno< Nevada area. We are carpooling so it should be a fun roadtrip with lots of stops for all of us old people.
With that in mind, this is my current plan:
- WIPGO Snow Village finish the Center Banner chart
- Start on Let’s Talk Summer large framed chart
- Start on May Temperature Butterfly
- Prim Stitch finish the cat
- Big Hearted Tiny Town – stitch at least one more house
- Take Snowman Collector – The Needleworker on trip to work on in spare time
I am awaiting my order from 123 Stitch which has thread for Snowman Collector. I would like to work on some buttons – not just the white of the snowman if I can avoid that. It would be nice to break it up.
I found the cutest mini charm pack that I could use to make a pillow for one of my patriotic finishes… Hmmm. Maybe.
Everyone enjoy your weekend. Not sure if we will get back in time on Friday for me to acgtuall do a blog. If I do, then I will see you in a week, otherwise in two weeks. Happy Stitching everyone!!!!

I hope your AC gets repaired before the hot weather hits! My orders from 123 shop are typically pretty slow, but the last one I got was fast. Your trip to Reno sounds like so much fun! Will your contractors be finished before you leave? Have a glorious week!
I hope they are done before I leave. That’s the plan.
