Floss Friday #175

Welcome back my Stitchy Friends! We have a lovely sunny 60+F day here in Vancouver, Washington. The sky is this amazing blue which is so nice to look at after a few days of rainy clouds. Still a little too breezy for me, but I sure love looking at the bright blue sky!

Starts & Finishes

I had two finishes this week! That got me a little pumped!

2011 Prairie Schooler Santa
Finish of Prairie Schooler Santa 2011 on 3/20/2026

I was happy to finish this Christmas stitch from December. I enjoy stitching these adorable Santas. I was feeling the need to wrap this one up.

This is being stitched on 18 ct putty khaki davos (an evenweave) with the called for dmc. The cool thing has been each Santa has used pretty much the same floss.

August Monthly Square Dance by Heart in Hand

I started these back in 2025 as my small stitch. I got sidetracked with the move. I am on track now and prepared to finish this year!

This Monthly Square Dance Banner is being stitched on 16 ct country french mocha aida using the called for flosses.

I feel like we are on the home stretch with this project now with just four months left to stitch!

WIP Updates

These days I only get a few hours each night to work on a project. I feel good that I did stitch all seven days this week.

March WIPGO Project #3: House on Pumpkin Hill by Hello Liz Matthews

Made some nice progress on this one. I had hoped to get farther. I am feeling pretty good about finishing all the flowers. I am still filling in the inside scene while starting on the leaves on the border. The border requires changing colors often which is a bit annoying. I may pull out my 11 inch hoop to work on this one.

March WIPGO Project #4: Snowman Collector: The Postman by Cottage Garden Samplings

Stitching the bicycle is fascinating with all its swirls for spokes. And they have us stitching with DMC 3799 a very dark gray.

My snowman now has a seat to sit on. Soon his whole bike will be done so he can peddle away to deliver mail!

Jan WIPGO Project #7: 2025 SJ Temp Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

I am close to my goal of finishing August 2025. Just 4 moons left for the month. You can see it was a hot summer in San Jose, California in 2025!

March Month 2 Month Barn by Stitching with the Housewives

I worked on the barn this week. Made some great progress filling in details such as the barn door. Just need to finish the roof on the barn then I will be moving on. After the barn is finished, the stitching just seems to fly by.

Spring Basket #3 by Hands on Design

Made some great progress on my third and final stitch for this series. I enjoy looking at the other two finished charts. The colors for this one is bright and cheerful.

Plans & Reflections

Quote

I have stayed on task this week and worked on everything planned except for one new start. I still need to kit that one – the Hands on Design Ornament Club for 2026.

I got some happy mail today for a stitch-a-long I thought I would be doing. I will start it but not sure about if I will be finishing this year. I have accepted that I just have a busy life right now and am grateful I do have some time most nights to stitch.

Here is what I have planned for the final week of March:

  • Start Sweet Santa HOD ornament
  • Finish up August on 2025 SJ Moon Phases
  • Work on Shabby Winter Calendar
  • Work on Mr. April
  • Work on House on Pumpkin Hill
  • Work on Snowman Collector: The Postman

Have not done any planning for April yet. I leave in just over a week for my quilt retreat. I will be away from home for about 10 days in April so I have to remember to give myself some grace. In the past, not much stitching happens when I travel. I always take a lot, but generally too busy having fun to work on them!

Everyone have a great weekend! I look forward to you dropping by again. Tuesday will be an update on my quilty projects. Thanks again!!!
