Floss Friday #174

Hello Stitchy Friends! It has been another busy week. How about you? Lots of appointments and I have two online classes that are keeping me busy! I was thrilled to almost finish my to do list for this week! Let’s check out the cross stitch projects for the past week.

Starts & Finishes

No new starts or finishes this week.

WIP Updates

Still only getting a few hours each evening to work on projects. I am pretty happy with this week’s progress.

Jan WIPGO #2: Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore

I feel like I should be done on this one by now. When I look at it, it just doesn’t feel like a lot of stitching left. I will continue plugging away. This week I filled in more colors. It was fun to add the cardinal and bits of greenery. Once again the goal was to finish stitching. The photo on the left is truer colors than the one on the right. I am stitching on 16 ct I think Picture This Plus Whimsey aida with called for DMC floss.

Jan WIPGO #7: 2025 SJ Temp Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

I was able to finish through August 24th so almost to my goal of finishing through August. I had to go back to outline moons between the new moon and the full moon. Outlining always takes time. I am stitching on 18 ct black aida with DMC floss. I am loving the overall effect.

Fieldguide to Dragons by Climbing Goat Designs

I am getting there with this one. Just a few more details and this green one will be complete. The photo on the right is truer colors than the one on the left. I am stitching on 18ct Dragon’s Breath by Afterglow with DMC floss. The goal is 400 stitches each month.

Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

When I am stitching this one, I get lost in the motif. I find them fascinating and easy to lose track of time. There is a total of 9 pages and I am almost finished with page 8. It so exciting to be making this much progress. This one has a special place in my heart since it was my first real sampler and multi page project. And of course I absolutely love the colors of Weeks Dye Works that I used – Lagoon and Ismeralda. It is being stitched on 16 count white Aida. If I started this today, I would be doing 20 ct aida but back in 2021 I was still getting comfortable stitching on anything that wasn’t white 14 ct aida. I plan on getting this one professional framed when it is done (sometime in 2026 🤞🏼).

Spring Stitching Season by Stitching with the Housewives

I pulled this one out of the drawer to work on now that it is SPRING!!! I forgot how far I got on this one last year. Even though this is an evenweave, it is a pretty easy one to work on and I like the pale gray stripes. The fabric is 28ct thin white pine by Fabric Flair. I am using the called for Classic Colorworks floss.

I finished the pink house this week and was able to work on the word “Spring”.

Plans & Reflections

I can’t believe we are two thirds through the month already! March is flying by. In just two weeks I will be headed to Lake Tahoe for a quilt retreat and I am not even close to being ready!

With that in mind, I am attempting to get my March WIPGO done this month as well as maybe finishing one of January’s. I was hoping to have a new start this week, since it didn’t happen I have moved it forward to this week.

Here is what I am planning for this coming week:

  • March Month 2 Month Barn
  • Spring Baskets – final one
  • March WIPGO: House on Pumpkin Hill
  • March WIPGO: The Postman
  • Finishing up August Square Dance
  • Finishing up 2011 Prairie Schooler Santa
  • Finally starting Sweet Santa from Hands on Design Ornament Club

We had flood warnings and lots of rain most of last week, but today the sky is blue and the sun is shining. So I am headed out on a walk tomorrow to enjoy this little glimpse of Spring. I am going to visit they Hoyt Arboretum for the first time.

Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for stopping by!
