Floss Friday #155

Hello Everyone! I am finally home for a while. It feels so good to be home although I had a great time in NYC. If I find some time, I will do a travel post to cover everything I did in September & October. It has definitely been a very busy fall so far. I am looking forward to some extended time at home and to get back to my normal routine.

Unfortunately for all of you, this may be a bit longish. I will try and wrap up all of October since my post on October 3rd.

October WIPGO

October 2025 WIPGO: Projects 6 & 17

I will be introducing and showing you the results for October WIPGO projects all in one sweep. These were the projects I took on my 2 week NYC trip so I actually achieved all goals.

Project 6: 2021 oracle happy holidays by oracle sal

Here is my starting point with this WIPGO projects. These last time I worked on it was last December. This is stitched on 18 ct aida khaki putty using a variegated silk thread. I am very pleased with the effect.

My goal was to work on this project for five nights. ✔️Done!

Oracle Holiday Quaker SAL WIP 10/25/2025

While I thought I might get done with more, I am pleased with what I did get done. I really enjoyed the the tree quaker shape. And the flower bouquet turned out interesting. It is looking very pretty. Working with the silk on such a coarse aida is very interesting.

project 17: Autumn Stitching season by stitching with the housewives

I worked on it at the beginning of October before I made a mindful choice to save it for the NYC two week trip. I surpassed my 2000 stitches goal. I am happy to report we have a finish! Let me share some of my progress during the month.

Here are some shots of the stitching throughout the month. After working on the Holiday Quaker sampler, this was so easy to work with even changing colors. I pushed through to finish it up.

Autumn Stitching Season FINISH 10/24/2025

This was my first Stitching Season finish. Loved working with CCW Marmalade. So pretty.

Starts & Finishes

Only 2 starts and 2 finishes in October. When I originally wrote up my goals for Ocotber, I thought I was going to start a whole bunch of different Halloween starts. With all the travel, that fell to the wayside. I managed to hit some of my goals.

Start & finish: May square Dance by heart in hand

I enjoyed working on May. There were a lot of different pinks and oranges used for the flowers as well as a yellow. I liked how it turned out and am pleased with how this is working out.

Finish: autumn stitching season by stitching with the housewives

Autumn Stitching Season FINISH 10/24/2025

I already showed you but I am reshowing you here.

Start: pop of halloween by bent creek

I secretly thought I might finish this up. I always forget that these are about 1500 stitches which is (for me) 3 days. I almost didn’t start it. I just couldn’t resist so here I am working on this. These use Pearl 5 DMC with 20 ct linen (over 2). Making these trees are just fun!

WIP Updates

I really pruned my WIP list for the month trying to make it more realistic based on my travel schedule. I still didn’t work on one project which made me sad. Moving on. Here is what I did work on:

Fruit of plenty by modern folk embroidery

I got some good time on this 2021 project. I am currently working on page 8 of 9 so it feels like I am getting closer to a finish.

House on pumpkin hill by hello liz matthews

I was very tempted to work on this project more than once, but I couldn’t resist. I don’t have much left to do with the hill and then we will begin focusing on the border. So exciting! This was a free pattern off of Liz’s Pateron. I love working on it.

Stitching quaker by primrose cottage

Stitch Quaker WIP 10/10/2025

I have continued getting some time on this fun little project. This is the first of three I plan to do with this “stitch” theme. I finished the tomato and spools this month.

Snowman collector: the postman by cottage garden samplings

It feels like it is going pretty quickly. In reality it is probably the same speed as all the other ones. LOL! I love those old fashion mailboxes. It is cool that I have been able to build the snowman’s body fairly easily. 💌

STitch quarterly: home grown by fat quarter shop

I have continued working on this September WIPGO project. Once a letter is outlined, it is actually pretty mindless. I can say, I am tired of doing brown but I love just filling in.

Fieldguide to dragons by climbing goat designs

Whoohoo! I finished my first dragon. Doesn’t he look pretty! I just have to decide which dragon to work on next. Love this project!

October calendar crates by stitching with the housewives

I am getting so close to finishing this one that it has been hard to put down. I thought I would put it away and start the November one but I don’t know if I can. So darn close!

November stackables by fat quarter shop

I loved how the slice of pumpkin pie turned out. It looks so real and very yummy. Just have a pumpkin to do then the bucket. Great progress on this project.

Fabulous house: santa’s house by cottage garden samplings

Worked some more on all the snowflakes in the background as well as the border. Soon I will be working on the front yard of this house. So exciting right?

crescent city velaris by woven wild crafts

Crescent City Velaris WIP 10/30/2025

I am not sure how it happened but I never worked on this project in September. Totally don’t know how that happened. Almost done with page 1. Take a look at how much Caitlin has gotten done on FireHeart. She started after me.

Caitlin’s Progress on Crescent City Fireheart 10/20/2025

It looks like she has finished maybe through page 4 (for sure through page 3)

Happy Mail

I have received some fun mail this month for cross stitch. Most of them came from Chantelle’s 141 Designs:

I had hoped to start both of the projects but they are still in their bags. LOL!

I also received this Fall’s Stitch Quarterly project

Happy Mail: Stitch Quarterly: Fox Trot

Now that I am home, I need to get caught up and organized with my projects.

Reflections & Plans

@leopardandlacecoxoxo

Well….you saw my happy mail so you know I can totally relate to this little quote. LOL!

Plans for November

I have not had a chance to really work on my plan for the month or even the first week. I am currently winging it. I am trying to finish up any Halloween projects, so this is what I am looking at right now:

  • October Calendar Crates
  • Pop of Halloween Finish
  • November Stackables
  • House on Pumpkin Hill
  • Home Grown
  • 2025 SJ Moon Phases

Next week I should have had time to regroup and reset for November.

Thank you for stopping by. Hopefully you found something of interest. Hope to see you next Friday. If you are interested in quilting, I should have a catchup post for that this Tuesday.
