To Do Tuesday #157

Wow! I can’t believe I haven’t posted any quilting blogs since September. Honestly, I can’t even remember if I made it to my sewing studio at all in October. I know I meant to do some EPP but it ended up still being packed away with my retreat projects. Oops!

Yes I will be linking up with Carol Schmilt for To Do Tuesday. Hopefully she won’t mind that it has been so long.

Feel free to check it out. Even better, join us. No matter what there is usually lots of inspiration checking out what people have posted in the linkups.

Project Updates

Now that I have been thinking about it, I know I joined at least one Quilt Zoom day but missed the second one. So I did work on things in October. I have no idea what and I am re-reading my September post and will do my best to catch everyone up.

What Got Done From My Last List (seems like a good starting point)
  • Attended the Gammill Summit in Bend, OR
  • Did some shopping (like I really need more fabric) Looking for a possible close match for border on Stars Aligned
  • Took a ton of notes from all the long arm classes I attended. I am looking forward to seeing what I remember and to finally get a quilt on the long arm.

It appears I never took any photos from my Quilt Zoom day in October so I can only guess what I worked on. Since I found all those cutoffs all over the floor when I got home from NYC, I am assuming I did work on them in some manner. I currently only have these two piles done (after locating all the missing pieces and parts).

Stars Aligned border pieces finished

While I know I spent a lot of time contemplating the second Stars Aligned project which I finally figured out was Twin size, it doesn’t appear I did anything but pet the fabric. Lol! 😂

Turkey Lurkey (Riley Blake Banner of the Month)

It looks like I got this kit cut out in September and worked on it most of the Quilt Zoom Day in October. It looks like I sewed most of the individual units in the booklet.

Turkey Lurkey WIP 11/3/2025

I started assembling it on Sunday, but ended up unassembling that feather unit in the first row when I realized that I had used light orange units instead of dark orange units. #sigh. Thank goodness, I decided to layout the whole thing after I started assembling rows 1 and 2. While it was a pain, it is better than if I had completed the rows and already sewed them together. You know me; I hate unsewing and generally will make it work. It was never going to work so I did what I needed to.

I opted to stop after correcting all my mistakes. Instead I took a look at my happy mail I got while I was gone.

Churn Dash

It looks like I assembled the units for another orange churn dash (but didn’t take a photo in October OR Sunday. So nothing to show you. I will show it to you when I finish the block.

That’s all that I could figure out that I worked on in the last 6 weeks. So onward.

Happy Mail

While I would love to show you what I got from my shopping trip in Oregon, I have no idea where I put it when I got back and was frantically getting ready for the Wedding Reception for my Daughter Caitlin & her new hubby Jannes. (It went well). So instead I will show you what showed up since I got home on the 28th.

I am very excited about working with this collection. So excited that I opted to buy one of the quilt kits by Freespirit & Tula Pink.

I purchased the quilt seed packets a while back (all 9) and had every intention of pulling from my stash. I ended up going the easy route and buying each block kit and finishing kit from Fat Quarter Shop instead.

I pulled out the first block and petted all the fabric and read through the cutting instructions and did an overview of the sewing instructions. While I plan to work on this quilt during November, I opted to wait before cutting on Sunday when I was still a bit tired.

Also waiting for me was the next installment of the Riley Blake Banner of the month. Once Turkey Lurkey is together, this one is next! It looks interesting. I didn’t pop open the box and look at the instructions yet.

Musings

Nala & Turkey Lurkey kit box

Still getting my studio organized and now I am getting my thoughts organized and getting myself back into a sustainable routine. It takes a little time to do this when you are basically absent for two months. With the PNW going into winter mode, I think it will help with the desire to be all cozy in my sewing studio. I am very much looking forward to reviewing all my gammill class notes and loading up the long arm as well as organizing all the projects currently sitting on the floor in one of my rooms. I think it is also time to review my wip list. I sure could feel really good if I could knock off say another 3 things on that list this month.

So yea, I have to think about my goals for the month of November as well. I always find this time of year to be more conducive to FINISHING things. Wouldn’t that be nice?j

Have a great week everyone. I appreciate you stopping by and welcome any thoughts or comments on this week’s musing. Do you find the last quarter of a year a time for finishing?

  1. Joining you in catching up from September! In my case it was the reporting that fell behind because with events and travel there was only room left for stitching. Thankfully we can just pick up from that last “To Do” list and bring it forward! Ooh, how did I miss that new Tula collection?!? Definitely putting that on my FQS Wish List. I always have to debate between working from stash or buying the kit. I tend to go with the former if I can quickly identify things for at least 75% of the project, otherwise I go with the kit. They usually work out great because often there is enough left afterwards to start another project (and then preferably with additions from stash)!

  2. Some months just seem to disappear and you wonder if you got anything done. You’ve picked some fun projects. Hope November is more productive for you.

  3. Hi Peggy. I’ve missed seeing your posts and progress so I’m glad to see you are back. When I saw the header photo I just wanted to open that package, fondle the fabric and read the pattern! I’ve been trying to avoid the new Tula Pink since I’m still on a fabric diet until I get some UFOs finished. Turkey Lurky and the Seed Packets quilt look like sew much fun. I’m still looking for to seeing your sewing spaces all set up and hear how you like your new longarm. Thank you for sharing the photos of the projects you can find. It’s good to know Inspector Nala approves. 🤭thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday 🤗 Carol
