Floss Friday #8

It’s been a few busy weeks since we last posted. If you follow my Tuesday blog, then you know that I have been running around and have had visitors. With cross stitch, that means my routine is broken up.

I don’t have a few new starts and new finishes. I have been working on my monthly goals and have made some nice progress on them. Let me share that with you.

FINISHED: Mr. February, A Calendar Gnome by Charlie’s Needle

I hadn’t planned on Finishing Mr. February this month, but I just got hooked on doing the little stuff. The teddy bear was so irresistible. What caught me by surprise was how invested I became as I worked on the arch. I must have four needles all going at the same time. I felt like I was doing a puzzle and could not wait to fit the next piece.

I am still in love with his clothing done in Classic Colorworks Jelly Roll. The designer has an amazing sense of color. I just love the outcome.

FINISHED: Let’s Talk Winter by Hands on Designs

I got to be honest. I was ready to set this one aside because I am anxious to start on Spring but with only two small sections left, I couldn’t do it. The snow globe once I started on it was fun and easy and who doesn’t like stitching a pile of quilts!

Heartfelt Charity SAL with Fat Quarter Shop

This stitch along is super addictive. Every time I sit down to work on it, I do more than planned. It felt good to completely finish the first column (release 2). I find myself starting hearts in the other columns when I have their color on my needle which means I am already halfway done with column 2 and have even started column 3. What slows me down is working on the borders (which is release 1).

When I started cross stitching again, I found out real quick that I make a ton of mistakes when I work on borders so I have found it easier to work the border as I go.

March Snap Shot by Pine Mountain Design

I am not a very big fan of 10 count aida. It just looks …. so …. kid-like. Also I guess I don’t like seeing all those big holes every where. Needless to say, I will be super happy when I finally finish this series.

Overall, March has been a fairly easy stitch. This week I finished stitching the lion (who by the way is adorable). That just leaves the lamb/sheep with the word luck and a few flowers.

Prim Stitch by Lori Holt

I have to laugh at myself with this one. I hate pulling it out. I have no idea what I am going to do with it when it is done, but it sure is a fun one to stitch! Once I finished the church, the rest of release 7 went quickly!

Just My Type by Fat Quarter Shop

I enjoy working on this project. I love watching the reveal with the Weeks Dye Works thread. Now that I have finished the center – Typewriter with Paper Note – I expect it to move a little faster.

Oracle SAL 2022

This is another that is super addictive when I have it out. Lucky for me each release is pretty small. Stitching release 5 peacock was delightful. Using lavender as an accent throughout the project has been perfect!

Feels Like Home by Fat Quarter Shop

I have been working on the house foreverrrrr. To finally finish it is almost a let down. Now I just need to get motivated enough to move to the next piece.

Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

I haven’t gotten far on the April page. I had meant to stitch a strand every night, but that got derailed about two weeks ago. (this is when you hear me chuckling to myself). I know I am overly optimistic but I can’t seem to help myself. I continue to make great progress on this stitch.

Tea Thyme by Fat Quarter Shop

This teacup is going to be a lot like the house in Feels Like Home. I’ve made some nice progress but so far it has been extremely easy to set this one down.

START: Let’s Talk Spring by Hands on Design

I had decided I was going to work on the medium chart for this one and am so excited to finally get it started. Just absolutely love the colors!

START: May Barn Sweet Barn SAL with Fat Quarter Shop

I got a little behind in April so I had to stitch April in May. So to help catch up a little, I am starting May now with the hopes of finishing the first week of June. You got to love all the greens, oranges, and yellow!

Wrap Up

I apologize for the length of this post. It was not my intention to go so long between posts. All I can say is my brother was a HUGE distraction! LOL!

Left to right: Dorothy, Scott , me

My overall May goals look in good shape so far. There are a few projects I ended up focusing on which is okay. Just looking at my project list, I have too many large monthly series in the works. It will be so much better when I finish up a few of those. I have found myself being picker and picker on what projects I start. I have found that I do not like most of Fat Quarter Shops patterns as they are terrible with color selection for both fabric and thread and they are dense stitching. But I keep attempting to do the free patterns anyway. Something about free drags me in…..

I hope your Memorial Day weekend will be sunny and fun. I actually have the weekend to myself for the first time in years. We typically are at a hockey tournament, but it is local which means the parental unit can handle it. There is no need for Grandma.

Have a fun and beautiful day,

Peggy
