The sun is shining and it is going to be an absolutely beautiful day! I will make sure to enjoy it before the next storm system. I did end up with a brief power outage of like 15 minutes on Wednesday, so not too bad compared to others in this area.
Starts & Finishes
Just one finish this week.
FINISH: February Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
I really put some effort into finishing this one this week. It is my only valentine stitch so I became very enamored with this for sure!
This is stitched on 14 ct Fabric Flair Marbeled White Pine Board aida with the called for Classic Colorworks. It is hard to pick my favorite thing to stitch with this one, but I am going to go with the cupcake.
WIP Update
Meanwhile… I continued stitching on some of my winter stitches one last time.
Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist
I wanted to finish Day 16 before putting this one away until this fall. Feel good about the progress on this. Witchel linen is so much easier to stitch on then other linens I have used. This is on 28 ct graceful gray linen with called for DMC floss.
Snowballs For Sale by Bee in my Bonnet (Lori Holt)
I don’t understand why I have such a hard time stitching on this evenweave (25 ct lugana). I had to unstitch and restitch. It felt like I didn’t make any progress, but looking at it I see the progress. I finished the light green of the scarf before packing it up until either gets called for WIPGO or fall arrives.
Winter Camper by Bobbie G Designs
I am determined to finish this even though I hate working on it. Overall I feel good about the progress made this year. I put it away as well until next time.
Snowman Collector: The Clown by Country Garden Samplings
I love working on this project. My goal this month was to work on this one once and it is done. I hope to squeeze in another time. I feel like it is really coming along well. This one is just …. Joyous to work on.
2024 SJ Temperature Library by Kristi’s Corner
I was undecided whether to continue to work on the bookshelf or start on the January shelf. This time around I elected to work on the bookcase some more. I am now ready to start stitching myself some books. I will have a few days that are the same colors next to themselves. I have decided that I will do a backstitch to seperate the books. For January, I have decided to use white for the seperation.
WIPGO Project: Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore
The first picture is more true to color in case you were wondering…. I finally started on my first WIPGO project. Day 8 is a dressed up reindeer. It was fun to start on it and I thought I would have more time on it last night but I ended up with company for a while and phone calls. So much distraction. Wow! I just realized that when I finish this square, I will be one third done!
I am stitching on 16 ct Whimsey aida by Picture this Plus. It is super soft but can be difficult to stitch with. I have to make sure the fabric is taunt otherwise, I ended up in the square instead of the whole. Just a reminder that I am using DMC thread (lots of different colors). This is so beautiful.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I haven’t planned out February. I am using a priority system this month instead. My first priority was to stitch all the winter stitches once and put them away to clear up my stitching area. Next I wanted to finish February Stackables. So here is the rest of this week I think:
- Work on Shabby Winter Calendar 4 more times
- Finish January shelf of 2024 Temperature Library
- Finish Let’s Talk Winter
I got more happy mail this week. I finally had ordered supplies for the other two series I wanted to do this year – Year of Celebration Season 2 and Monthly Markings. Year of Celebration will be individual stitches while Monthly Markings has the best border for stitching as one so I decided to do that.
I was able to kit up Year of Celebrations. I cut and prepped all 12 squares and organized all the threads this week. I haven’t started it yet. Maybe this week if it works out. I am going to do them in order just so I know where I am. Interestingly enough, each month doesn’t tell you what color you need. There is just one master list/legend.
I hoping to kit up Monthly Markings this week. I believe I have everything. I ordered a lot of thread which came. I also had ordered what I thought I needed for Winter Baskets, but it wasn’t what I had in mind. I placed another order.
I have also decided to stitch this years series being released by Country Garden Samplings called Fabulous House (they are the designer of Snowman Collector). I will be stitching these as individuals. I ordered the fabric. I love what I got but I am stitching on 18 ct instead of 40 or 20. I have decided it would be great to start the “Green House” in March which is all DMC but I placed the order for my missing colors. More happy mail is on the way!
Everyone have an awesome weekend. Happy Stitching!
