To Do Tuesday #82

It is time for this weeks update on my quilty projects. Here in San Jose we survived a very vicious storm. It has been two days since it passed through San Jose and people are still without power. I feel fortunate that I never lost power. Yesterday I drove through town what should have been a 15 minute drive that took me an hour due to lights out, streets blocked by down power lines and trees, and of course, crews trying to clean up the storm damage. I am counting my blessings and am glad that everyone is safe.

Once again I will be linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt. Thanks Carol for hosting To Do Tuesday Linkup.

What Got Done This Week

Despite the storm (or maybe because of it), I had a pretty good week. Check out what I worked on this week:

  • I worked a couple of times on Queen of Diamonds block 2-2. I tried to make the unit have one direction, but finally gave up. English Paper Piecing is so relaxing, I don’t know what I don’t do more.
  • December Gnome is Where the Heart Is: I was able to do his mustache, nose, and all the white this week
  • Blooming Poinsettas & Christmas Year in Words: I was able to finish all the white for both of them which was very pleasing since I ran out of bobbin thread. LOL!
  • Sweet Childhood Memories: I trimmed the units I made last week and sewed & cut the next group of 8
  • 2024 Cottage Temperature Quilt: I cut some more squares and pinned them. I finished trimming up 64-65 HST. I can now start assembling the first couple of weeks of January while I finish making the ones I cut this week as January ended up with a high of 74. Crazy right?
  • On Wander Lane: Bunny Knoll – I finished sewing the last 6 inch block (the basket) and finished assembling the background for the house block.
  • I thought I was ready to bind the table runner from a couple of weeks ago. It turns out I only cut the strips, so I sewed everything into one long strip and trimmed seams. Now just need to press the binding and I will be ready to sew it on.
  • Meanwhile, between projects, I continued working on my leaders & enders project: Daydreamer. All of the two patches are assembled and now pinned to make 4 patches. (not shown)

UFO Resolution 2024

January called for me to work on 2024 Cottage Temperature Quilt which I put a lot of effort into. I feel I have set myself up for success for this year on that quilt. My January quilty project was the Queen Of Diamonds english paper piecing project. While I worked on it, I secretly wish I had spent more time. I did make good progress though. I finished Block 2-1 and started on block 2-2.

February projects are:

  • Quilt: 2019 100 Days 100 blocks which I already assembled during January is a Alison Glass Christmas line released either 2018 or 2019. This week I pulled the pattern and this pattern does not have a border so, that means that I just need to find a backing and binding and quilt it.
  • Quilty project: 1920s Farmer’s Wife English Paper Piecing project with Alison Glass fabrics. I haven’t touched this in like 3 years after I lost a couple of pieces for block 45. Guess it is time to pull it out and improvise those shapes. I loved this EPP project and am thankful that this was my first EPP project instead of a tradional EPP project. I learned so much about block construction from this and the 365 block challenge.

Afterthoughts

My happy mail came this week and I just fell in love with this year line of Sunprints by Alison Glass. They are gorgeous and the butterflies…. OMG! If I had gotten this sooner I would have used this for my temperature quilt, instead I will have to come up with a project for this beautiful line! In case you are wondering, Alison Glass releases a blender every year with just 3 prints in 8-9 colors. Last year’s line was my 100 days 100 blocks for 2023. The Farmers Wife EPP project is solely Alison Glass fabrics from various lines. Most of her lines play well together. I am sure I will find a QAL for the newest release.

So what else do I want to share? I never got my Project: Done posted and we are halfway through the quarter. So I guess we will plan to participate next quarter.

That’s it for this week. Thanks everyone for stopping by and checking out my projects.
