Hi Everyone! We have a few dry moments today between winter storms. We are getting lots of rain which is good. Not sure if it is snow in the mountains because it is a warm rain here. So I am enjoying it. February historically is our coldest and wettest month of the year. Will it be this year?
Starts & Finishes
I had no new starts or finishes this week.
WIPGO Update
It’s a new month but first let me share my progress with last month’s projects:
January 2024 WIPGO
Project 9: Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist
I am pleased with my progress. I was able to finish Day 1, 6, & 11 as well as start Day 16. Love this stitch! I decided I would like to finish Day 16 before I put it away until next year.
Project 22: January Month 2 Month Barn & Button by Stitching with the Housewives
I am feeling very pleased with my progress on this project. This series was a new start for me this year. I finished the small chart “button” and made some serious progress on the large chart “barn”. It is a little weird to be using white aida with one of the Stitching with the Housewives charts. LOL! Looks great though.

Project 3: Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore
I started this project in 2020. I am stitching on 16 count aida Whimsey by Picture This Plus with the called for DMC floss. January found me finishing Day 7 and starting Day 8. I am very pleased that this project popped for my February WIPGO.
Project 24: Stitch Quarterly by Fat Quarter Shop
Well I was looking through my WIPS last night and the only Stitch Quarterly I have started is Fall Harvest. It is on my list as a seperate project. I pulled it, but I am not feeling it. I will have to let you know next week what I decide but I am seriously thinking of pulling the latest Stitch Quarterly (because I thought it was adorable) to be my WIPGO project. It is a winter project with a polar bear and a penguin. I thought it would be fun!
Which one would you pick?
WIP Update
I ended up not stitching a couple of days this past week. No excuses, just wasn’t feeling it. Other than the Christmas Calendar (see above), these are the other WIPs I did work on:
Winter Camper by Bobbie G Designs
I’ve been stitching the part that is easiest – the sky. I have kind of decided that I should from left to right now. This has been a make corrections as I go project since I messed up the snowmen early on but I don’t want to start over. LOL! I will just keep chipping away. But this is definitely going away as soon as I work on it one more time.
Snowballs For Sale by Bee in my Bonnet (Lori Holt)
I missed a 2 over 2 somewhere so I am coping with that right now which just makes this not a fun project. I hate counting when it is 2 over 2. Anyway, I don’t think it is very noticeable – just annoying. I got tired of working on the snowman, so started the scarf for a change in pace. This is another one that will be put away as soon as I work on it one more time……
It is being stitched on 25 ct lugana – I forget the color – with DMC floss.
February Stackables
There was a moment last night I thought I had made a mistake stitching this. The chart is 11 x 17 and does not scan in my 8 inch scanner which is a pain in my a**. But after I finished stitching the heart I realized everything was perfect! (whew!). I really, really would like to finish this during February so I am making it a priority in this short month.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
Wouldn’t this be fun to go to! I going to have to check it out. The last class I took from Cathy was fabulous. She is an awesome teacher. I love to learn new stuff!
Okay – still working on my February plan. I didn’t get to start two of the new series I had planned on starting in January, but I did finally order supplies. I got a notice yesterday that my happy mail is on the way! So I am a wee bit behind but these are wee projects so I will eventually get caught up – just won’t be February with only 29 days.
I am toying with focusing on February Stackables and finishing it up. I was sucked in last night when I was working on it, so it is a real possibility when that happens. While it would be nice to finish up Truckin Along Series – I am not feeling very patriotic. But – I am thinking it might be time to wrap up Snow Village. So that has moved to second on my priority list of projects to finish.
Okay – Focus. This week’s plan will be:
- Work on February Stackables
- Work on Shabby Winter Calendar
- Decide which Stitch Quarterly I want to do
- Work on 2024 SJ Temperature Library
- Finish Day 16 of Christmas Calendar before putting away
- Snowballs for Sale work on one more time and then put away
- Winter Camper – finish sky and then put away until later.
- Finish Snowball Stand on Snow Village.
Reviewing my list. May be a little ambitious, but what the heck. You guys know I need long lists so I feel like I did something! I am going to wrap up with some picks of Nala and Simba sleeping (for once not being mischievous)
Thanks for stopping. Have a great weekend!!!

Shabby Winter always draws me in, the fabric is just so pretty. I have to say, in your WIPS that little penguin is pretty irresistible. I would go blind trying to find your missed 2 over 2 – lol! Your kitties are so, so sweet. Hope you have a great (even if rainy) weekend.
