Happy Friday to everyone! Hope you are enjoying your day. Today I am 60 and thinking about all the things I still want to do. The bucket list is pretty long so let’s take a look at my stitchy projects.
July WIPGO Wrapup & August WIPGO projects
July was pretty successful. My three projects were Just My Type, Let’s Talk Autumn, and October Cottage of the Month. My goal was to work on five times during July or Finish. I ended up finishing Just My Type in June so nothing to do in July (Yipee!). Let’s Talk Autumn was a start for July so I was thrilled with the progress after five evenings. October Cottage of the Month finish was awesome. It was also the last in a tweleve month series I needed to finish so I finished the series too!!!! A very successful WIPGO month.
August WIPGO was a stitch quarterly project and Mr July. I finished Mr July in July so I am replacing him with Mr. August. I got happy mail today which was the cloth and missing floss I needed for Mr. August. I must say he is going to be colorful! For my stitch quarterly project I settled on Tea Thyme versus starting a new project. I have been working on this one for a year. Once again my goal is to work on each project at least five times during August (or finish).
Starts & Finishes
With it being my birthday week, I have been out and about more than home. When I have been home, I have focused on my two daily quilt sewalongs so it has left me with only a hour or two each evening versus the four or five I have been doing.
START & FINISH: August Nine Patch by Primrose Cottage Stitches
Despite my short evenings I was delighted to get this one started and finished. I must say I have no idea what that semi round things are. They remind me of flowers. Anyone know, drop me a note. Otherwise, I think these bees with their hives are adorable.
WIP Updates
I made a big effort to try and finish June Truckin Along and Summer Basket 3 in July. Didn’t happen. Kind of lost my momentum for those projects now. Here is what I worked on this last week.
WIPGO Project: Tea Thyme by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
Finally finished the actual cup. If you look closely you can see two little gray feet on the handle for the adorable bird I will be stitching next. You can also see the begining of the S for Spring and the outline of one of the flowers I will be stitching. I am hoping the rest of this will go quickly now that the cup is done.
June Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives
I tried really hard to finish this in July. While I made amazing progress didn’t quite finish. Currently working on the truck.
Summer Basket 3 (chart 3) by Hands on Design
I put 3 nights in on this one just because I thought I could finish it. I am close, real close. This first half of August, I think I might try and get a little time in on this one to see if we can finally finish this set. Love how the the strips are so dynamic. The white stars on the “white” strips also add some interest as well.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
For August I have planned five new starts and six finishes. Well… That’s my goal anyway. The Nine Patch series only has August and September left to finish. Another exciting series finish next month. I am still working on the small series Hello There and Year of Celebration (both by Hands on Design). I am picking back up the Sampler of the Month series with August which I hope to start this week and then you already know I will be starting Mr August this month as well.
My planned finishes include August Nine Patch (DONE!), August Year of Celebration, and Hello August. I have also listed Tea Thyme, Summer Basket #3, and June Truckin Along. That is what is planned anyway.
I received my happy mail today which included supplies for Mr August, Year of Celebration, and Hello There. Now that I have received my missing supplies, I hope to work on the following this week:
- Summer Basket #3
- Fruit of Plenty
- Start August Year of Celebration
- Start Hello August
- Start August Sampler
- Start Mr August
- Snowman Collector – The Needleworker
- Tea Thyme
Sharing a few pictures from my Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1) trip today from San Jose to Big Sur.
I am going to wrap this up now so that I can get stitching! Everyone enjoy their weekend!

Love your projects and every time I scroll I think the next one is my favorite. I really like the Summer Basket. You’ve inspired me to pick up my cross stitching again. I get distracted by TV, so I need to have Hubs watch something I don’t care about! Interesting about the historic Bixby bridge. Bixby, OK is my hometown, but I’m sure there’s no association. Your quote is very much like one of my favorites “The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.”
