Floss Friday #182

Welcome back my stitchy friends! Wow! It has been an eventful two weeks. I had the cross stitch retreat hosted by 141 Design Company and travel home. I would love to tell you that I got a ton of stitching. Well… I talked more than I stitched. LOL! Of course isn’t that what retreats are for. Let’s take a look at my weeks.

Starts & Finishes

No finishes this last two weeks but I do have to new starts. I hope to finish one more project and start another. Keep your fingers crossed.

START: Make Today Count by Hands on Design

Finally got this one off the ground. I made sure to get in 400 stitches before tucking it away.

START: Snowman Collector: The Scarecrow by Cottage Garden Samplings
Start Snowman Collector: The Scarecrow 5/25/2026

I worked on the border for most of the night. I am using a silky DMC 5200 for the border. I didn’t want to stop without actually stitching a little something on the scarecrow. It’s not much, but it is a start!

WIP Updates

I have not had much stitching time so I focused mostly on my May WIPGO projects to see if I could finish them. I took my 3 largest projects to the retreat so I would not run out of anything to do. Let’s look.

MAY WIPGO Project 18: Fieldguide to Dragons by Climbing Goats Design

The dragons went on the retreat. I sure was hoping to get more done while there. It left a lot for me to do when I got home. The goal was 2000 stitches this month. I finished with 2040. Finished up the green dragon. Started and finished the purple dragon. Then started the red dragon. With all that, I am just a third of the way done.

APRIL WIPGO Project 6: Crescent City Velaris y Woven Wild Crafts

This was another project that went to the retreat. While I got some good time on this project, it wasn’t enough so I pulled it out this past week as well. It looks like this one will continue to roll over to next month to finish up my April goal of 400.

APRIL WIPGO Project 14: Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

I actually worked a lot on this one that final day in Michigan. Not a lot going on Sunday. Felt pretty good about how I as stitching that last day. Still shy of my April 2000 stitch goal so another one rolling over.

Patriotic Quaker by Primrose Cottage

At the retreat, there were a lot of people working on patriotic stitches. It gave me a real steady need to pull this one out to work on this month it being Memorial Day and all. I got in my 400 stitches.

My Haul

The day before I left for the retreat, I visited my local shop – Acorns and Threads. I forgot to take pictures and share with you my haul. I thought I would pop that in now:

I saw someone stitching a few of these at the retreat. I look forward to starting a few of these. When I got back, I found out that the 30th Anniversary Workshop with Cathy of Hands on Design prestitching kit was ready to be picked up. I headed back to the store to get the kit. It came with linen but we could request aida (and I did).

Plans & Reflections

I had really hoped I would have time to share about the Michigan retreat with Chantelle’s 141 Design Company on this post. While I have most things I want to share with pictures, I have not taken pictures of all my haul so I decided to make that a seperate post altogether. Soon I promise!

Plans for this weekend and next week

There will not be a lot of stitching this weekend. I am indulging one of my other crafts – card making – with a special virtual event Friday & Saturday. Not sure if any cross stitch or quilting will happen. I finished up the Friday session. It was good but I am slow. LOL!

June has not been planned out yet so I will be focusing on my May to do list for this upcoming week:

  • 2025 San Jose Temperature Moon Phases
  • 2026 Vancouver Temperature Solar System
  • Start Hands on Design Ornament #2 Lights the Way
  • Finish Shabby Winter Calendar
  • Crescent City Velaris
  • Fruit of Plenty
  • Start 30 Acorns Prestitching

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great weekend. Until next week…
