I wanted to make sure I shared with all of you the best class I have ever taken (and I take a lot of classes both professionally and hobbywise) What can I say? I love to learn.
A few months back I discovered that Cathy from Hands on Design was doing a class in California. I am a big fan and I desperately needed to learn how to finish that stack of 100 completed stitches. After signing up for the class, I must have watched like 10 of her finishing videos and did do my first final finish which I shared in Floss Friday #16 (a pillow).
Cathy joined up with Lady Dot Creates to present a class called Wear It Well. Lady Dot and Cathy was patient with my many questions leading up to the actual class on October 7 & 8 in Modesto, CA. Our projected was 5 different charts to stitch – 3 on 18 ct perforated paper and 2 on 32 ct linen. I had not stitched on either ct of media before so was a little nervous. They graciously held my hand and encouraged me.
Then the class! Wow! I was very impressed with how organized and together they were. They distributed just what you needed for the step we were working on and built up our skill sets from finishing a wood box to lacing a stitched item. We learned how and when you would use magnets, art tape, lacing, wool, and embellishments. EVERYTHING was literally new to me, yet I walked away after two days feeling confident that I have learned the skills necessary to start finishing my items. Obviously, they could not show us everything, but they covered a lot of skills. We went home with a pin cushion, needlebook, cute scissors, and a gorgeous box to keep everything in. (see Cover photo for a view)
I’ve been on the road for three weeks now (including this upcoming weekend) so I haven’t got to apply all my new found skills, but lookout! I hope to start working on Final Finishes for my stitched projects.
Now let’s move on to what I did get done (beside) the class projects.

Upcoming
After this coming weekend, I look forward to some time to work on something other than Wear It Well. A few projects are close to being done. I hope to finish a couple of projects this week. Overall, I just need to get re-organized. I have two new starts I need to work in before the end of the month as well..
Happy Stitching. Until next Friday,
Peggy Stockwell
I love that box! What fun that looks like, glad you enjoyed yourself while learning some fun new skills. All your projects are so pretty, but I really love that little Lori Holt CS. I’m so glad Fat Quarter shop started carrying all the needlework things. Glad your kitties approve of your goodies. 😉
Thanks Linda! During Covid I was following Pat Sloan who works with Fat Quarter Shop. That is how I got back to cross stitching. I did a lot of what they did while figuring out what I liked and didn’t like. It was good way to experience things as they are always changing things up. Keeping up with Pat Sloan is a lot of work but I do love her!
