To Do Tuesday #24

Hi Everyone! Hope this finds you all busy working on your projects . As we talked about last week, it has been a busy week with cooking and quilting classes. Then walking the quilt show and attending another Hockey weekend. The bright side is my grandson’s team qualified for the regular season over the weekend so we get a by for the next hockey weekend at end of October. Yeah! I will spend it quilting!

I am linking up with Linda for To Do Tuesday over on her website.

I also wanted to take a moment to talk about the quilt show. PIQF in Santa Clara, CA seemed small still. I felt there was a shortage of vendors and attendees. Consequently, I spent less time on the quilt show floor looking at things. A matter of fact just one hour on Wednesday night.

We took an Ipad class from Cristina who is from Spain. I have to admit, it was a bit disappointing. I am not sure if that is because her ability to explain how the apps she showed us related to quilting or just poor teaching skills in general. While I learned how to use some additional apps, still not sure how she meant for them to be for quilting. She said she is going to send some You Tube videos. Hoepfully that clears things up.

The other class we took was a mystery quilt just for the fun of sewing with everyone. It was nice as we bought our fabric precut at the show and only had to bring sewing machine and supplies.

What Got Done!

When I started checking things off the list, I was pleasantly surprised at my progress.

  1. I finished adding borders to my Fall Quilt
  2. I cut both 6/25 & 6/26 365 blocks
  3. I cut the Oct MCC block
  4. I started sewing row 5 of the Hawaiian quilt
  5. I finished sewing all of the Tula Pink Tiny Beast quilt blocks for a total of 80!
  6. Finished round 1 of block 20 Lost & Found EPP project
  7. And of course, I made it to all my quilting class for PIQF with all the required items including starting a new mystery quilt.

To Do List Week 24 for Oct 18th – Oct 24th

I am preparing for Friday Zoom Quilting Day this week and for a week long of Long Arming next week.

To Do #1 – Make a 10″ design board

I desperately need these boards. I have everything I need to make at least 6 of these babies, but would be happy with at least one finished board.

To Do #2 – Sew 365 blocks June 25th & June 26th
Another block cut!

I got some cutting done this week so now I need to assemble blocks. At least one will be done on Friday.

To Do #3 – Piece the Oct Monthly Color challenge block
Sage Green is October`s color. I`m using Alison Glass fabric again.

Looks like fun! On my schedule for Friday.

To Do #4 – Finish Row 5 of Hawaiian Quilt
Row 5 under my needle

Started it yesterday, just need to wrap it up. Still loving the rainbow effect. I really hoped to get more done this month but it wasn’t meant to happen.

To Do #5 – Square Up Tula Pink blocks
Tula blocks ready to iron and square up

Now that they are done, its time to square up the next 40 blocks so can assemble the last half of this quilt. I already have a number of fabrics to audition from for the borders.

To Do #6 – Round 2 of Lost & Found block 20 (EPP)
Block 20 with round 1 completed

I started this round last time and so almost halfway done alrady!

To Do #7 – Borders on Halloween quilt
Halloween center

With Halloween around the corner, it seemed appropriate to pull out this quilt to see what needed to be done. The center is assembled so it’s a matter of adding borders to prep for next week quilting (hopefully).

To Do #8 – Sew 2 PIQF Mystery blocks
PIQF 2022 Mystery Block

I ended up buying two kits because I would like a twin size (45″ x 90″) top. Although you could totally make the original 45″ square top into a crib quilt or table topper. Pat Yamin designed this mystery quilt for the quilt show and had all the pieces laser cut. Love the ease this is coming together.

To Do #9 – Sew 2 more blue Churn Dash blocks
Precut Blue/Aqua Churn Dash blocks

Just in case I need them for Friday, I can sew 2 more blocks (or 20 as I precut them all).

To Do #10 – Applique EPP Stars to background fabric
Future potholders featuring an EPP 8 pointed star

I just talked to my sister Cheryl in PA. We haven’t talked in months so we caught up on cats, sewing, siblings, children, travel, etc. One of the questions that came up was when she would be getting her potholders. (Me bad! She wanted gray and I found them so boring I put them in a baggie. Out of sight. Out of mind.) So I pulled them out so I could finish these up before the holidays.

Wrap Up!

As usual, I have listed more things then I will realistically get done, but I love choices. I don’t get all guilty about stuff on my list unless it has been there a long time. Define long time. Well, long enough to bother me. hehe. So this week’s recap:

  • 10 inch design board
  • 2 365 blocks
  • Oct Monthly Color Challenge block
  • Row 5 of White Hawaiian quilt
  • Round 2 of Lost & Found EPP block 20
  • Borders on Halloween quilt
  • 2 mystery blocks
  • 2 churn dash blocks
  • applique EPP 8 pt stars to background

Still catching up around the house after being gone for so long. By the time I get caught up, I’ll be on the road again. Next week’s list will be very different since I am going to limit myself to finishing projects. I am going to see how that works.

Simba with the assist during cutting time

Good luck this week on all of your projects. Let’s catch up again next Tuesday as well as Friday on all things stitchy.
