Floss Friday #151

Hello from Steaming Pacific Northwest. We are having another mini heat wave here with it supposed to reach 102F (39C). Lucky for us it is only for a couple of days with over 100, then it cools off for the rest of the week in the 90s. Oh yea!

I have continued to diligently work my active wips for the month. Let me share my progress with you.

Starts & Finishes

I have no new starts this week but one finish.

August WIPGO Project 12: Snowman Collector: The Shepherd by Cottage Garden Samplings
Finished Snowman Collector: The Shepherd 8/18/2025

I only had to finish the border to finish him up which I did this week as well as work on The Postman’s (next one) border as well as frog the old color and do a strand of two of the new color S5200. I love how it finished up and am planning how to start The Postman. Starting Postman was not originally part of my WIPGO plans I figured since I finished in only 3 nights, it was an opportunity to get it rolling. I pulled together all the thread so I am ready to rock n roll.

WIP Updates

I continue to work the list. While I do set plans for each week to have a basic goal in mind, most of the time I just pull out my temperature stitch and whatever else is at hand. So far it has worked out pretty good.

August WIPGO Project 15: 2025 SJ Temperature Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

I was excited to hit my next milestone with finishing up April. With continuing to work 2 and half moons 🌓 each night, it is keeping me on track for the this month’s WIPGO goal which is to finish through May 31st.

I am glad to be a wee bit ahead of schedule as the fifth week of August isn’t a full week so this gives me a chance to hit the overall goal. So excited to make so much progress. It does take well over an hour every night to do these moons. It has been worth it. It has made me think about what I might want to do once August is over.

Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticoure

Finally completed Day 15 which I started last week. I love this project. The colors are stunning and right up my alley. Next month I will tackle Day 16 which will complete this row. There is only five days left and then the “title” piece will need to be stitched. It was originally chartered in French. Should I leave it or stitch in English. I do not have to decide today.

Field Guide to Dragons by Climbing Goats Design

It amazes me how different the pictures are based on lighting. The more orange version is truer color of the cloth. I was able to finish my month goal of 1030. Actually I ended up stitching 1140 stitches for the month. This blue dragon has been fun to stitch with his multi colored blues and rainbow “feathers”. I am now all caught up with this project.

Fruit of Plenty Modern Folk Embroidery

Finished up the final 100 stitches for the month and almost completed the center motif. Can’t wait to work on it next month!

November Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop)

I was able to finish the hat and all the green with the leaves on the corn and vine on the pumpkin. I exceeded my goal of 400 stitches for the month. ✔️

Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist

I had fun stitching this cute little wreath for Day 8 with it’s pink ribbon. Another year long stitching project where I have been stitching a day every month.

Fabulous House: Santa’s House by Cottage Garden Samplings

The house is now complete. Per my handy dandy app (Mark R-XP) I am 71% done with 2029 stitches left. I worked a little on the border and snowflakes after finishing the roof. This is such a beautiful design and I sure can see Mr. & Mrs Claus living here in this elegant home. Once again I exceeded my monthly goal of 400 by 100 stitches!

Reflections & Plans

@leopardandlacecoxoxo

LOL! Now isn’t this the truth. This would apply to my quilting stash as well as my cross stitch stash. Anyone else feeling this one?

Happy Mail

While I didn’t receive any cross stitch supplies, I did receive my “Finishing Course” from Chantelle’s 141 Design. So many goodies inside and I can’t wait to get started.

I also received the stitch ahead chart for Friendstitch which is September 20th. I uploaded it to my app yesterday and now I need to kit it. We are supposed to have it completed before the 20th where we will finish this piece. I also received this morning the list of finish supplies I need to gather. So much to do and so little time.

Next Week’s Plans
Mr. April Cover

Looking ahead, we only have 10 days left in August. I am not positive what I will be working on this week but this is what is left to do for August goals:

  • Start & Finish April Square Dance
  • Start Mr. April
  • Start Mr. Postman
  • Start Stitch Quaker (which still needs to be scanned in)
  • Work on Winter Camper
  • Work one night on Spring Basket #2
  • 400 stitches on Crescent City Velaris
  • 400 stitches on March Month to Month Barn
  • One more night on Patriotic Tiny Town
  • 170 more stitches on Patriotic Quaker
  • 2025 SJ Temperature Moon 🌖 phases (May 9 -31)

Still easily within grasp if I don’t miss a night of stitching.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy Stitching. I look forward to your comments or thoughts!
