Floss Friday #14

Hi Everyone! I hope you had nice Labor Day Weekend. We were away at a hockey tournament in Southern California. It was unbearably hot at 115F. At first I was happy to be home until the heat wave continued on here with a high of 108F this week. Today so far we have a cool 95F. I am keeping my fingers crossed we are done with the heat wave. We have more wild fires when it is hot like this. We have been lucky here in California. We have only had a few wild fires so far in 2022.

Beach Day

We are here to talk about cross stitch. I would like to say I was real focused but that is not the case. I have been getting out more and travelling so sometimes when I get home, I just eat and sleep. While this helps with my health goals, it does nothing for my creative goals. Yet, I can’t help but be pleased with my progress. So let’s recap what I did work on in the past two weeks.

STARTS

I am excited to actually have a few!

August Cottage of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
Stitched on 28 ct lambswool linen with called for threads

Believe it or not, I was able to get this one started even though I am missing some key threads. They are on order and will be here any day now.

Hands on Design Class Project
This is 18ct white perforated paper using called for Classic Colorworks

I am not going to lie. I started it today. I was supposed to start last night, but I was too lazy to go find a ruler to mark my starting point on the perforated paper. I hope to finish stitching all four/five parts this month so I don’t have to stress in October, but don’t hold your breath. Some ladies were talking how they were already halfway done. Yea for them!

FINISHES

Believe it or not, I had two more finishes in August making it a total of FIVE. I think that is the most finishes I have had in one month.

Let’s Talk Spring by Hands on Designs
Stitched on 16 ct black aida with called for DMC thread

How sweet it felt to wrap up this medium design which will eventually be a pillow. I love how it looks!

August Barn Sweet Barn by Lori Holt
Stitched on 20ct l White lugana with dmc threads

Woohoo! I am keeping up on this monthly stitch. I love the bright center.

Works in Progress

With the focus of finishing and starting there wasn’t many other projects that I worked on this past two weeks – just this one.

Prim Stitch Series by Lori Holt
Chart 8 is done! On 25 ct lugana prim with called for aurifil floss

I could have worked on multiple things but I decided to spend most of this week finishing chart #8 for this stitch out. Then I spent another two nights working on the border finish 8’s and outlining 9’s. I am very pleased with my progress. Only four squares left!

Upcoming

Well…. I put away Tea Thyme, Just My Type, and Sail Away until next spring. It is one of my goals to finally start Autumn Beauties and Let’s Talk Summer this month. Of course, I will need to do the September Barn Sweet Barn and HOD class project. I was going to pull out Let’s Talk Autumn small I finished last year and realized I never stitched the leaves on perforated paper so I added that to the list. I am seriously hoping to bring that particular project to my class in October to get some expert help on finishing it.

I need to dig around in my Cross Stitch closet to find my unfinished autumn projects. I am sure there are a few.

I also hope to maybe finish a few fall items if not this month, then next month. So exciting. You will be the first to know when I have a final finish. (NONE to date).

Nala discovered my new gnome

Well Simba is encroaching on my space so it is time to wrap this up until next time. Thanks for dropping by to see what I have been doing. Until next time…
