Welcome to the first Tuesday in December! Hope you all are ready for Christmas madness. I will be linking up with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt again this week. Why don’t you check out her blog?
Finishes
I am pleased to share my Final Finish on my Cross Stitch project: Summer Baskets from the Triple Play Pillow series. I love how these pillows turned out and I am thankful to Cathy at Hands on Design for taking the time to make such a detailed You Tube video.
Even though these are the Summer Basket design, I couldn’t help noticing how they match perfectly with my Christmas Decor. Perfect!
What Got Done this Week
This week I had a Zoom Quilting day with my quilty friends (Toni, Teri, & Mary Elizabeth). I almost made it through everything I prepped for the day. I’m feeling real good about what got done this week.
- Finished the November Monthly Color Challenge block and printed out December’s
- For #100days100blocks2023, I finished blocks 67 & 68 and started on blocks 69 & 70
- Finished all the four patch blocks for my current group of leader/ender blocks: Daydreamer
- Started a new applique project called Gnome Is Where the Heart Is designed by Shabby Fabrics
- I designed the pieced outer border on paper this week for my Sunshine Quilt. During the zoom day I put together my flying geese blocks and nine patch blocks which will be spread throughout the border. So far so good!
- Finished my English Paper Piecing (EPP) block Queen of Diamonds 1-2. It felt good so I started cutting out blocks 2-1 and 2-2. Finished 2-1 and even got it glue basted and ready to sew.
- I finished big stitch quilting my Summer Basket cross stitch project the night before the Zoom day so was able to finish making the pillow on Zoom day!!!!!
- Finished assembling row 8 for Dorothy’s Double Slice Quilt.
- Started numbering the applique pieces for the Blooming Pointsettas applique project. There are over 70 pieces so it is a bit tedious. I have found that numbering the pieces before I start fusing makes for an easier process.
- On the new applique project started numbering the pieces for Gnome and found I was missing two pieces. I probably lost them in my excitement to start because they are tiny pieces. No problem. Just have to remake them from my stash.
Overall, one of my most productive weeks in a long time. I feel good!

Afterthoughts
One of my mottos this past week is “Just 15 minutes” to help move forward on projects that have stalled. Because of that motto, my sewing room looks like a hurricane came through but tons of progress. Okay maybe it is my whole house. LOL!
I still have the mindset of finishing projects, even with the start of one new one. I pulled out of the project wall so far two unfinished Christmas quilts. I have seen some posts on Instagram that reminded me that I have one more that I need to pull as well. Two of these are very close to the tops being finished so I will see what I can do to wrap those up.
I plan to take my EPP project Queen of Diamonds on my vacation, so I began prepping month 2 blocks and am debating on whether I should prep month 3 as well just in case I get wild and crazy in Whistler and finish the month 2 blocks. I still have time to decide. I will probably throw in some already prepared Ruby’s Garden blocks for backup. I should have plenty to keep me going between my EPP project and my cross stitch projects. I try to bring things that are longer term projects because I never know how much time I will actually have for stitching but don’t want to bring like 10 projects.
When I was displaying all my Christmas wall hangings, I realized that of all the months, December seems to be a little light. So I need to finish up some of these for next year. I have like three empty spots on the wall (while October was overflowing.) It is always more fun to work on them during the season so I tend to procrastinate on my Christmas applique projects. I have three going right now. Also realized it would be nice to finish my Santa pillow to display. We will see if I can find it.
Good luck on all of your projects this week. Love looking at what everyone is working on. Thanks for stopping by. Always love reading comments so feel free to share.

So excited for all your finishes!!! That’s a great motto, mantra! I’m really loving Dorothy’s quilt!! 😂 I agree the baskets totally match the Christmas 🎅🏻 🎄 decor!!
Thank you Dorothy for your kind words.
Hi Peggy! I love scrolling through your photos. Those summer baskets really do fit the Christmas theme, they are SO pretty. Your Sampler Quilt is just gorgeous! How long will you be at Whistler? Will you be blogging and posting photos that make us jealous – lol! Hope you keep enjoying the “Christmas madness”. 😉
I will be there almost a whole week. Assuming there is internet, I should have time to do some blogging. Can’t believe I leave in less than two weeks. Thank you for all the kind words.
