I will be linking up again this week with her!

What Got Done This Week

The week started off slowly and I jumped into a squirrel project for a friend (which we will conclude December 18th). Overall, I am feeling fairly accomplished with two final finishes for this week! Yep! Completely done. Now that is darn motivating. Here is what I got done this week:

  1. Finished binding my 8 pointed star potholders for my sister Cheryl!
  2. Quilted AND bound my February table runner from 2021!
  3. Prepped my Rose Quilt to be bound (trimmed, found binding & label)
  4. Completed Week 6 block for Scrappiness is Happiness QAL
  5. Completed June 30th 365 block
  6. Completed the 2 green churn dash blocks I needed to sew together next 2 rows.
  7. Completed block 20 Ruby’s Garden block.
  8. Finished 8 gauzy blankies (squirrel project)

Week #32 To Do List (Dec 13th – Dec 19th)

While I don’t have to travel this weekend, we do have a hockey tournament weekend here locally. It will tie up Friday nigh, all day Saturday, and part of Sunday. The rest of Sunday will be working on my squirrel project with Lisa my partner in crime. We are converting swaddling into 4 mini blankies for her grandkids. Gees, gauzy material is difficult to work with.

With all that being said, this week’s to do list is probably a little ambitious, but I figured with Friday Zoom Quilt Day, maybe not to out of reach.

To Do #1 – Bind Mystery Quilt – Name of Rose

With cutting it off the long arm and trimming all of the sides last night, I actually got a little excited to work on the binding. I still make some mistakes when long arming so I will have to deal with those while attaching my bright pink binding. Can’t wait to share the completed quilt next week!

To Do #2 – Quilt March Tablerunner

With the success of Monday with the February table runner, I am ready to tackle this table runner. The top did not turn out like I envisioned in my head, but it is okay. I like to do loopy meanders on my domestic. I find them quick and soothing. I may try some clovers or I might just do all straight stitching. A cross hatch could be interesting. Knowing me, I won’t decide until I set down at my machine.

To Do #3 – Bind/Finish March Table Runner

Currently I don’t have a binding picked out so I still need to pick a binding and make it so I can finish this table runner.

To Do #4 – Sew Hawaiian Quilt Row 8

This quilt is coming along nicely. I only have 4 rows to assemble and attach left. I love the rainbow effect of this one. It is very pleasing to the eye. I am not in any particular hurry to finish, so I just keep plugging away at this easy peazy fquilt.

To Do #5 – December Monthly Color Challenge block

Just one more block for 2022. I opted to make 6 inch blocks this year. I will probably do that again in 2023. I have some vague idea of using them as corner stones or part of a border around the 2020 & 2021 12″ blocks I have. Right now I just keep making each block each month and collecting them until I decide what I want to do. Cream is the color for December.

To Do #6 – Week 7 block of Scrappiness is Happiness

I looked at this when I finished Week 6. I believe this is a plaid block for this week. When we get a third of the way through this QAL, I will start looking at the layout and color. Right now, I am just going with the flow.

To Do #7 – July 1st & July 2nd 365 blocks

I need to cut and sew both these blocks. I will definitely have them ready for Zoom Quilt Day on Friday.

To Do #8 – Start Lost & Found block 21
Block 20 Lost & Found quilt

With just 2 block left, I am starting to get a little anxious to finish the blocks. I will need to lay them out in rows so I can start building each row with the sashing.

To Do #9 – Finish 10 inch design board

No new comment to add here other than it has been on the list way to long.

To Do #10 – Assemble Tula Pink Tiny Beast top

If I end up with some extra time, I want to put together the rows for this top. I will then be able to look at the fabrics I purchased as possible borders.

To Do #11 – Finish Squirrel project

Now that I have this project, I want it done.

Wrap Up

Simba helping with the sewing machine

I’m still on a mission to finish as many projects as I can in December. Two is a nice start. If I can have 2 more this week that will be great. In order to finish more, it does mean that I will have to be focused on the long arm soon. I have 5 quilts ready to be quilted all using gold thread. That makes it easy. I can wind 10-15 bobbins at once to have on hand for the upcoming quilt-a-thon.

I have two Christmas quilts in my sewing studio, one needs to be assembled and the other I am still working on blocks. I am hoping to start working on them next week. If I am lucky, maybe even this week.

Simba has been his usual helpful self in the sewing room. While I was binding the potholders, it pulled pins out of the pin cushion and threw them on the floor. Of course, the usual lay on the item I am trying to pin or quilt is a normal occurrence. Simba and Nala are a bit annoyed that I took apart their cat hammock when I started working on Name of Rose and February table runner. I am sure they will be thrilled when I load the next quilt to be quilted.

Everyone have a great week. I still have Christmas decorating to do in between sewing projects. I am looking forward to the quite after the storm. Good luck on your projects!! You all inspire me.

  1. Oh Peggy, you made me cry! What lovely things to say, makes me not want to give up hosting. Thank you so much!
That “fairly accomplished” feeling is awesome, right? Looks like a lot accomplished! Can’t wait to see the Rose quilt finished, although I sympathize with Nala and Simba over the loss of the hammock – lol! I am totally familiar with pins being tossed down to the floor. 😉 LOVE the backing for your March table runner, and block 20 of Lost & Found is gorgeous!
Thanks again for the sweet compliments and thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

  2. Hi Peggy! Congrats on having TWO finishes this past week. That is super for this busy holiday season, I think. Good luck on this next week’s list. I can see that Simba is a huge helper. Keep on truckin’. You’ve got it going on. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
