Rolling into my second week of March feeling real good about what I got accomplished last week. How about you? I had a great Friday on a zoom call with my quilty friends. It was a good day hanging out with friends.
I plan to link up with Carol at Quiltschmilt for To Do Tuesday. Just go to her last blog post for the current link.

Project Updates
Had a great week in the sewing studio. Got upstairs multiple times which just makes my heart happy. Quilting has always been my happy place especially during rough times or stressful times.
Bring home the tree quilt by lori holt of bee in my bonnet from her vintage christmas book

I as able to wrap up my second car block that I started in February this week as well as finishing my third car. I started calling this 3rd block my Christmas car. Without realizing it, I used red trim on this green car. It really pops! Only three more blocks make before assembling this quilt. It took me all day on Friday to finish the car block. I am treating these as a BOM to give my ADHD personality a reasonable excuse to set aside starting a new block to work on something else.
Just a reminder that I am using mostly Alison Glass Christmas collection from 2019 and supplemented where needed with as many Alison Glass fabrics as I could. At the time I made the trees, I did not really have a large stash of green in Alison glass or anyone else. Today, I would have tons of green to use. 🤢🌲✅
Abby rose churn dash blocks (leaders and enders project)

I was able to finish my block I started in February this week. I just realized that I did green blocks in February and am doing pink in March. ❤️🍀🙈. I finished assembling the individual units and started assembling the rows of my first pink block with a light pink dash. I have my second pink block lined up and ready to sew.
Strip club project: stars aligned

I could not remember if I had trimed up all of the units so took the time to double check this way and then lay them out to be sewed into pairs.
Autumn seeds quilt by lori holt with bee in my bonnet

With a bit of assistance from my helpers, I finished cutting all the pieces for the fourth of nine blocks for this project. This block is appearing red/pink. I do not know what this block is actually called. It took me awhile to figure out how theyt got the look in the stars. Lots of flying geese in this one. I will start piecing this block this week.

Musings

These two are sewing room addicts. They love love to be in the room. Typically they can be found laying in the most inconvenient place of the moment. Yesterday was no exception. Nala plopped herself down on either the nice neat pile of fabric being cut or on the cutting instructions themselves. While Simba decided that laying on the design board with all the cut fabric was a good napping spot. I had pulled out an 18 inch design board and I think he left me maybe a quarter of that to put my fabrics. Hence the total unorganized pile of cut pieces for Autumn Seed block this week. 😹
Cats are like toddlers. They don’t need you until you are busy or trying to DO something.
Have a great week everyone!

Okay, that opening shot of one of your assitants lounging on your project had me cracking up! I lost both of my cats before I started quilting and always think about whether they would have wanted to “help” when they were alive. Your projects are moving along great! Love the Lori Holt Christmas tree cars, her designs are always nostalgic fun!
Yes that was Simba. He is very good at being in the wrong place at the right time. He is currently laying on my arm while I am attempting to type. He also loves Zoom calls and will walk back and forth anytime I am on a Zoom call until he finally gets bored. He loves to sit in front of the sewing machine with his tail under the pressure foot. I swear he does it deliberately. His sister is a material girl. She steals fabric and thread all the time from the sewing room. I can not leave her unsupervised. Usually though she finds a nice project to curl up on and take a nap. Great helpers in the sewing studio!
Wow Peggy! You really did make great progress on your list this week. Like you I’ve found sewing to be the only thing that helps with the stress right now. I love love love those car blocks and envy you your sewing companions. Where did you find those Alpha bitties with the clips on them? I was using my flat ones this past few weeks and got so frustrated with them falling out of my clips. I was looking at them trying to figure out if I could glue them on to my clips and here I see they make them already done? Thank you once again for sharing on To Do Tuesday. Sorry I’ve not been able to visit everyone these past weeks, but having had family working in “that” part of the world, the news and dealing with DH I’ve been sidetracked. 🤗 Carol
Hi Carol: The Alpha bitties are new on Fat Quarter Shop’s website. They are only A-Z and 1-9. I will still have to make myself some double letters for some of the blocks. Like you I have been considering how to make that happen (in a cute way of course!). Of course, I could be practical and just write the letters on a clothespin but that is just not cute. The particular ones in the photo came with the clips. I do have some of their other ones that are loose little plastic chips. Once again, we were thinking alike as i wondered if I could somehow attach them to something.
Yeah. Being an American under the current president sucks big time. I have had to quit looking at the news because of all the UNAMERICAN things the idiot is doing. Sorry. Anyway. I love checking out and participating in your To Do linkup. It helps me stay on track. Plus I love looking at all the projects. So inspiring!
Sending you best wishes your way and hope your are surviving our crazy PNW winter. One minute snow and the next unseasonally warm. Thanks for stopping by!
