It is hard to believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving and next week will be December. Where has the time gone? We just went back to tighter covid regulations including a curfew statewide in California of 10pm. If you are out after that you need a note.
Fall Table Runner
This table runner is my latest finish for table runners on my kitchen island. I found this free pattern on Fat Quarter Shop website. The mini charm table runner. It is designed to use 3 mini charm packs (2.5 inch squares). I had one festive fall mini charm pack and that was my base. All the rest of the needed 2.5 inch squares needed came from my fall scrap stash. I had this beautiful brown grunge to use as the background. In my stash I found this gorgeous gradient leaf fabric which was perfect backing. I just love how it turned out!
Fall Placemats
Those of you following me may remember that last year I started fall placemats. I got as far as making the front and back of them, but never actually going the next step. I was thrilled to finally wrap up these. I ended up doing them with no binding and quilting each placemat totally unique. Once I laid them out, I realized I made a mistake (Oops!). I am not pointing it out so good luck finiding it!
Napkins for the Holidays
I finished making my Halloween napkins the week of Halloween. Normally I try and match everything up to my placemats. I have been in a mood where I didn’t want to be all matchy matchy. So for Halloween, I included some of the fabrics from the table runner and placemats but they are a hodge podge. That I absolutely love!
Because I loved the hodge podge look of my Halloween napkins, I am taking that same approach for my fall napkins. The fabrics have been choosen to coordinate with the fall table runner and placemats but not to necessarily match. Here are the fabrics I picked. I need to iron and sew these puppies tonight so we can use them tomorrow!
Jelly Snowflake Mystery Quilt Update
I am not sure how I feel about mystery quilts where you have to pick the color palette. I would have much rather known what the final layout will be. I know if I made this quilt now, it would look so much better.
I did finally piece all the top together. It is a lot smaller than I realized (even though they gave the dimensions). It has set around on my ironing board for weeks while I decide what I want to do – make it bigger or just leave it.
Last week I finally decided what I want to do with this. I am going to leave it (so I just need to sew the borders on) and turn it into a table cloth for my daughter Caitlin who is always hosting holiday dinners. This moves to the top of the list to get done so I can mail it by 10th of December.
Are You Game? Mystery Quilt Update
I fell a little behind with this Mystery quilt this fall. I am working on two sizes in different colorways. I took this month to get myself all caught up. It will not be long until we will be doing the final assembly of this one (or two).
Halloween Quilt Update
One of the quilts I started in October before totally falling off the rails is this layer cake quilt called Birthday Cake out to of the FQS Perfect 10 book. I had this adorable Halloween layer cake, then I had to find the perfect background. I settled on this gorgeous peach grunge.
While I am ready to put away so I can focus on holiday projects, I really want to get this one assembled before putting it away. I set a goal to finish all Halloween projects by Monday. This is my last quilty project for Halloween.
Bring Home The Christmas Tree Update
I started this quilt the same time I started the Halloween quilt in October. This is a very detailed quilt with excellent directions. It is from the Vintage Christmas book by Lori Holt.
I picked my left over Alison Glass Holiday fabric collection for this quilt. I realized when I started cutting the trees that this collection only had 3 greens in total. I decided to go through my scrap baskets to find a variety of greens to make the trees somewhat scrappy. While this is cool, there were not enough Christmas fabrics. It can be the silliest things that derail us on a quilt. This was mine.
Last week I started pulling myself together and organizing my scraps and fabrics. I came across a whole bunch more Christmas fabrics and greens. I pulled out my tree blocks and was able to finish my second block this week.
Monthly Color Challenge
I can’t believe I am going to say this again. I feel behind in September. I am beginning to think I got a little overwhelmed in October and ended up doing nothing but cross stitch. Lucky for me, this is an easy catch up project. I finished the September and October blocks this month. I have this weekend to finish the November block.
Quilter’s Planner BOM
This like the Monthly Color Challenge fell behind in September. After finishing the Color Challenge blocks, I finished the QP blocks for September and October. I’m loving the colors!
November is foundation paper piecing so I am procrastinating. I will have to do it this weekend as well.
Christmas Advent Wedding Quilt Update
The last project that I have been slowly working on is the pieced border for the Christmas quilt. I started this quilt December 2019 as a sew-a-long. I am on a mission to finish this up and to send it to Caitlin soon so she can give it to the intended couple. I am shooting for the December 10th date. That is going to take some real effort to accomplish. Keep your fingers crossed.
Happy American Thanksgiving Everyone
As usual, I desire to do more things than I probably can do. I rather reach to the stars and get the moon versus the alternative. Everyone stay safe and enjoy your holiday!
