Happy Friday! Hope you had a great week. Mine has been pretty productive overall. My 24 Hours of Cross Stitch was great. I ended up stitching more than 24 hours. Friday was my new start day. Saturday was a Fall/Halloween stitch day which left Sunday as my everything else day. Let’s take a look.
Starts & Finishes
I had five new starts on Friday. Some were preplanned for the month and I waited to start until this weekend. Some are because I finished other projects last week and wanted to get started on the next in the series.
START: October Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
This was an unplanned add to my October starts. I just couldn’t resist when October Stackable kit came in the mail last week. After finishing up the June Stackables last week, I was excited to get started. This series has not been finished in order but more of what is the latest I have on hand after I finish the current one I am working on it.
I am really enjoying this entire series. Realistically, it is an easy stitch even though it is big. They remind me more of the quaker stitches. I started with the cup of Cider and on Saturday with the fall stitches, continued working on this project so that everything would be done except filling in the cup color.
This is being stitched on 14 ct Fabric Flair Marbled White Pine Board with the called for Classic Colorworks floss.
START: November Sampler of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
This was supposed to be a November start, but I finished my WIPGO project last week: September Sampler. This is the last one in the Sampler of the Month series that I need to do. It is November (fall); so I figured why not work on it. Not bad for just an hour of my time.
It is being stitched on 16 ct beige aida with the called for Classic Colorworks floss.
START: Snowman Collector #2-The Clown by Cottage Garden Samplings
At last! It felt good to finish The Needleworker last week and I had planned on starting this one and was super stoked to start during #24hocs. There is a lot going on with this chart and I will just have to work my way through each item. I have been making a list of all the parts and this one has lions, elephants, trapezee flyers, big tops, etc. A lot of different things to keep me engaged.
I had decided to stitch this as one big project, although this turned out that it could have easily been a monthly one since all tweleve charts are kind of themed. I am going to stick with the one big stitch so I am continuing to stitch on the 18 ct vintage country mocha aida with all the called for DMC, Weeks Dye Works, and Classic Colorworks floss. I have used so far 4030 as my border. I am not really liking it so I didn’t work on the border for #2. I am probably going to rip out and use a white as my border now that I have seen all twelve charts.
START: July Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives
This was definitely planned. I debated waiting until summer to start the final one in the series, but I couldn’t resist finishing off another series that I started in 2020. I didn’t realize how often I stole out of this club kit so I am a little short on Licorce Red for this kit. I may need to buy some.
This is being stitched on 14ct chalkboard black aida with the called for Classic Colorworks floss.
START: Stitch Quarterly – Fall Harvest by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
This was another October happy mail delivery. I was going to do last year’s Fall in the Air instead of this one. The fabric for this – Autumn Splendor – is to hard to resist stitching on. So here we are with another fall start.
It is being stitched on 14ct Autumn Splendor aida with the called for DMC floss.
FINISH WIPGO PROJECT: Prim Stitch Series by Lori Holt
WhooHoo! I finished this 2020 project this week! This was my first ever project on evenweave with a nonDMC floss. It’s huge! I haven’t decided how to finish it yet. I know a lot of people have framed it, while that is appealing, the cost will be crazy with such a large piece. For now I am going to set it aside while I think on the final finish.
It was stitched on 25 ct prim lugana with the called for aurifil floss. I really enjoyed stitching the flowers the most. The kitty cat came in a close second.
WIP Updates
With having #24hocs weekend, I have touched every active WIP this month. I can’t express how good that feels!
2023 SJ Temperature Butterfly by Stitchin Mommy
I finished up the July and August butterflies earlier this month so this weekend I started the September butterfly outline. I am pleased with my progress.
Oracle Quaker Halloween by Oracle Tales
This one is on my planned finish list so I have dedicated a few nights this week to it. While I have made a great deal of progress, not sure how realistic a goal it is to finish during October. I still have five days left and I am an optimist.
Autumn Beauties by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
With only 90 minutes of stitching, not much progress though forward progress is made. I have currently began filling in the Pumpkin sign after finishing the letters during #24hocs.
Let’s Talk Autumn (large framed chart) by Hands on Design
I love working on these Let’s Talk series charts. This one is no exception. I had hoped to finish off the Falling Leaves down the side of the chart this month. Still some time left to make that happen.
Autumn Basket (chart #1) by Hands on Design
I wish I had spent more time working on this one but here it is.
June Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
I keep plugging away at this one at least once a month. It is not at the top of my list so I haven’t spent a ton of time on it. I am starting to make enough progress, I may need to prioritize it futher up the list. LOL!
Mr August – A Calendar Gnome by Charlie’s Needle
Another WIP down the priority list. Once again, my goal is to work on the project at least once during the month. Of course, that intention was not meant to be just 90 minutes, but with all the finishes that I did get done this month…. I am happy. I have been working on the cart boards. I’m starting to think the gnome could use a face…
Honey of a Tiny Town by Heart in Hand
I finally finished up the right side of town and it is looking pretty good. Time to start on the left.
June Snap Shot by Pine Mountain Design
I decided to work on the borders this time. I am not sure you will actually notice anything, but it overall helps me.
Fruit of Plent by Modern Folk Embroidery
I got more stitchy time in this past week then I orginally planned. This is the reason I went over my 24 hours last weekend. LOL! What can I say? I got sucked in by my progress. I am so close to being half way done with this 2021 project
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
You may have noticed a white tube in a lot of my photos this week. I have not been happy with how my colors appear in my photos. I realize that a lot of that is because most of my photos are taken in the house at night with no natural light. I tried adding “something white” to each photo to see how much truer the colors are. I think it made a difference.
For this next week, five days will be in October. I am thinking I will attempt to finish my Oracle Quaker Halloween. I have scheduled to work on some of my older fall stitches this week as well as Honey of a Tiny Town.
It is also the time I need to start pulling together my November stitches. With all the October starts, that leaves me with just two for November. I will be double checking I have everything I need for those.
I still have my two Summer Basket pillows to work on as well. I just need to focus. Squirrel! LOL! Have a great weekend everyone.
