Can you believe July is almost over? Just a few more weeks and the kids are bacck in school. How crazy is that? This week has been pretty normal summer day here in San Jose, California. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.
Starts & Finishes
I am pleased to have finished my last two projects that I planned to finish this July.
WIPGO Project: October Cottage of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
I was so excited to finish this last in a series this week. Soon I will start working on the finishing so I can start displaying these cute little cottages. They were all stitched on 28 ct lambswool linen and was my first exposure to linen. I had used Witchel which for me has been way easier to stitch on then any other linen that I have tried. I stitched with the called for flosses
Mr July, A Calendar Gnome by Charlie’s Needle
I was a little surprised that it took me a year to finish up this stitch. I started it last July. I find that crazy. Hopefully it will not take me that long for the next one. I stitched this on 28 ct wheat lugana with the called for flosses.
WIP Updates
I was able to participate in 24 hours of cross stitch hosted by @quirkystitches last weekend. Someone asked me about the details. Yes some people do 24 hours straight but not me. From Friday until Sunday, I stitched at least 24 hours. This is a quarterly thing and the next one is in October.
WiPGO Project: Let’s Talk Autumn (framed) by Hands on Design
This was the last time to work on this project for July. It has been put away until September. I was pleased with the progress I made on this project during July.
Snowman Collector’s – The Needleworker by Cottage Garden Samplings
This was is coming along. Normally stitching just white is a pain in my butt. For the #24hocs it was a blessing because it meant I didn’t really have to think about anything. I am starting to get a little excited because I feel like I might finish this one soon.
Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery
I am currently working on the June page of this pattern. Working on finishing the center is way interesting and I am probably procrastinating (delaying) starting on the filled in border. It takes forever to stitch and it is super easy to make a mistake. When it is done, I do love it though.
Prim Stitch by Lori Holt
Was able to finish up chart #10 and spent the weekend working on the border for 10 & 11. This one is getting close to the end. I wonder if I should focus on it so I can just knock it out this year.
Summer Basket (chart 3) by Hands on Design
This is the cutest design. I was happy with finishing the lt teal stars. I wonder if I could possibly finish this one in July?
June Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
I had to undo again on this one. Sigh. I swear I spend as much time unstitching as stitching on this project. I have no idea why that keeps happening. The strawberries are cute though!
Sail Away by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
I didn’t feel like working on the final bit of border so I decided to start the lighthouse.
June Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives
This one is coming along quite nicely. I almost have the entire border completed.
Tea Thyme a Stitch Quarterly by Fat Quarter Shop
This cup and saucer is taking forever. The good news is when I finish them, the rest will be a slam dunk. I am almost done with the cup!
2023 SJ Temperatiure Butterflies by Stitchin Mommy
I got started on this June’s butterfly during the weekend and was able to finish it last night.
Honey of a Tiny Town by Heart in Hand
My missing floss arrived from 123 stitch on Friday so I was able to finish up my sunflower and a few other buildings.
Let’s Talk Summer (framed) by Hands on Design
It feels like I have made very little progress on this one but I did get a cute little daisy stitched
June Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
I got started on the umbrella. I like the colors they picked for the umbrella.
June Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs
Got a little more done on the trailer and car.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
The August WIPGO projects were released yesterday so I took a look at my list. One of my projects would have been Mr. July but I finished him so I am going to quickly order what I need to start and work on Mr. August. My other project is a Stitch Quarterly. I think I originally meant to start a new one, but I think I am going to check my current projects. I am 95% sure that Tea Thyme is a Stitch Quarterly. It sure would be nice to finish that one up. If I do decide to start one, I think I would like to start Hello Summer or Citrus Summer.
I found myself starting to work on planning August. I don’t have any plans to put away any projects at this time. I will continue plugging away at my current active wips. I started six projects this month and so far have finished five. I have time to maybe get one more done….
Everyone have a great weekend! Hope you have something fun planned.

The Prim Stitch looks soo good! Loving all the WIPs and you’re making great progress!
Thanks Dorothy!
So did you think the Wichelt was a better linen than Zweigart? I don’t know enough about linens, but I have read that Zweigart has the softest “drape”. You have so many pretty projects. I particularly love Prim Stitch – is that Simba meow-deling it?
I find it easier to count the threads in stiff linen so prefer Wichelt but I can still stitch on Zweigart. Yes Simba was my “meow”del. Lol. Thanks Linda for all the encouragement!
