Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope all you lovebirds have a great day today. My brother-in-law and my grandson both brought me flowers for today as well as helping me with my storage unit. I loved the grand gesture from both of them!

Starts & Finishes
FINISH: Snow Village by Country Cottage Needleworks

I started this project back in September 2020. It feels real good to finally finish one of my first big projects. I love it. I will probably make this into a wall hanging but not today. This is a seasonal stitch and putting it in a frame just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do when I would have to store it for 10 months a year.
It was stitched on 14 ct Snow on Blue aida by Fabric Flair with the thread pack from Fat Quarter Shop which ended up being threads substituted from the original pattern. My favorite thing to stitch was the snowmen and snow ladies.
February Start & Finish Goals
I am a little more reserved this month with planned starts and finishes. Just sharing what they are:
Start Goals:
- Frosty Tiny Town☑️
- Winter Stitching Season
- January Square Dance
Finish Goals:
- Snow Village☑️
- Pop of Winter☑️
- August Stackables
- January Square Dance
I have got a nice start on these goals but still need to pull together everything for the Square Dance series.
WIP Updates
This week found me stitching on two projects a day most days as I was trying to catch up or finish goals. Let’s take a look at everything I worked on.
WIPGO Project: Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist

I started on Day 7 of this project and made great headway for me on this linen fabric. It will be a snowman eventually. My WIPGO goal is to stitch day 2, 7, & 12. So I am halfway now. I really liked the colors of the snowman’s sweater. So fun.
Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

I had a goal of 500 stitches for February and could not get it all done in one night so it bled over into the next night. I am halfway through page 7 (9 total). I realized I messed up on the birds tail feathers so I had to improvise and I feel good with the results. I enjoy doing these little motifs they have throughout this sampler.
Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore

I tried really hard to finish Day 11 in one sitting but it bled off into the next day but I did finish my goal of Day 11. I thought it was so cute having a beanie hat on a hat stand. Just love this project so much. I am super happy I picked this awesome purple fabric.
Snowballs for Sale by Bee in my Bonnet (Lori Holt)

I really should have continued filling in the lower body of the snowman but I wasn’t in the mood to do that so I worked on his face and scarf this week. It felt good to do something other than white.
February Month 2 Month Barn by Stitching with the Housewives

I have hopes to visit this project at least one more time before end of month. It is my only true February stitch. I was able to finish the word February and start working on all the little knick knacks on the word. I am loving the floss picked for this project. It is really pretty. I am looking forward to starting on the barn.
Winter Camper by Bobbie G Designs

I don’t know how many of you remember the story of this project. It was my second project I ordered online when I picked up cross stitch back in 2020 and I messed up the snowmen right from the beginning. Of course this total derailed me and maybe I should restart it but I refuse to at this point. I have had to restart so many of those first projects from 2020. Instead I am constantly compensating. The more I stitch, the easier it is for me to improvise. I decided when I pulled this out in January that I would work from the right side of the chart (which is not messed up) towards the left (messy side). Needless to say, this project makes my head hurt. I am happy to only work on it one hour at a time. (It isn’t because this is a bad pattern, just was only my second project back into cross stitch and I did not count well.). I hope to eventually finish this for my sister Cheryl who loves trailer camping.
2025 SJ Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

Because I was playing catch up on other projects I only got 7 more moons done for January and none on the border right now. BUT I did get my temperatures all logged to current and into the chart through February 10th. As with most large projects, it takes me a bit to figure out how best to work on these large projects. To find the chart flow. I think this is going to be such a cool project! When it comes up as a WIPGO project I should be able to get current and hopefully finish more of the border. Meanwhile, I will keep plugging away on each moon which is turning out to be almost as much fun as making books for the temperature library.
Snowman Collector: The Shepherd by Cottage Garden Samplings

Got some good time on The Shepherd this week. I worked on filling in the bottom of him. Finished all the leaves and berries/flowers as well as the mini snowflakes. Worked on the vine going up on the right. It is technically wrapping around his staff which I haven’t stitched yet. Love the colors on this project!!
Afterthoughts

It has been a busy week as you can tell. I fly out Tuesday to go house hunting in Vancouver. I am looking forward to finding a house with a space I can use as a sewing studio. That is my #1 priority. Cross your fingers.
Today my daughter Caitlin and her finance flew to Germany for his Dad’s 70th birthday party. Afterwards they are going skiing in the Swiss Alps. She was shocked how much cheaper it is to ski ⛷️ there then it is here. They were very excited to go and sent me a long list of cat chores while I am staying at their house next week.
Then tonight my grandson leaves with his Mom to fly to Florida for a cruise to the Bahamas. You might remember he got scuba certified a few months ago and it was specifically for this cruise. He is very excited. I hope he has a great time.
With everyone being gone, I had to find someone to cat sit for me. Lucky for me, I have a nephew in the area and he has agreed to stop by and spend time with Simba, Nala, and Callie.
Have a great day and weekend!!!!♥️💖💜

Your Snow Village is quite pretty. I really should make one for my son, who displays a little ceramic snow village at Christmas. If I lived close, I’d come and kitty-sit for you. 🙂 Good luck with your house hunt!
