CROSS STITCH DIARY: The final weeks of Sitchtober 2020

Welcome to November! We only have a few weeks of Fall left and here I am still working on Halloween projects and a few fall projects. I am trying to wrap up all Halloween projects before starting any new projects.

We’ve got 2 Finishes!

FAT QUARTER SHOP QUARTERLY STITCH CLUB – HEY PUMPKIN!

Stitched on 10ct Oatmeal Aida with called for DMC thread

Whoot! My first Stitchtober finish. I’m thinking this will be a great pillow for the living room.

OCTOBER TRUCKIN ALONG by Stitching with the Housewives

Stitched on 14ct Aida Blackboard with Classic Colorworks called for thread.

It was sweet to finally finish another Truckin Along project. It felt really good. I still haven’t decided how I will display this series.

FRIGHT NIGHT MYSTERY STITCH-A-LONG hosted by Fat Quarter Shop

Stitched on 14ct Fabric Flair Provence aida with called for Weeks Dye Works thread.

This one is coming along slowly but steadily. I am currently stitching release 3 (of 5) which is the top part of the haunted house. I have kind of gotten into a rhythm when stitching on this one. Keeping my fingers crossed that I finish this one by end of November.

2020 HALLOWEEN MIX & MATCH with Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet and Fat Quarter Shop

Stitched on 14ct Fabric Flair Provence aida with DMC thread – some called for and some from my stash.

I’m now two-thirds of the way done with this project. I struggled with the quilt block on the right a whole bunch. I took out the design three times before I got it right. The one on the left is from Sew Row by Row. The gingham looks so much better in a photo then up close!

If you haven’t noticed with this design, the corners are all black designs and the “blocks” around the center are orange, yellow, and green. Very well balanced design. The border has been so easy to do and looks great.

PUMPKINS FOR SALE by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet

Stitched on 25 ct barley lugana with called for Weeks Dye Works thread

This design is fun, but I have gotten myself in trouble a few times and had to remove my stitches and try again. Not as much as the last one, but enough to lose my rhythm. I am excited to be on the pumpkins. I just love pumpkins!

MR. OCTOBER, A CALENDAR GNOME, by Charlie’s Needle

Stitched on 28 ct lugana whisper I think with called for thread

I am so close to finishing this one. I need to added eyes, words and finish his hat and this one will be in the books! I was tempted to continue working on this instead of another project last because I am so close!

COTTAGE OF THE MONTH – NOVEMBER by Country Cottage Needleworks

Stitched on Lambswool 28 ct linen with called for colors

This is another that is getting mighty close to being finished. Probably two more sessions will do it. I just need to finish the trees, the door and add the ground covering with corresponding autumn ground covering as well as the bottom banner. This one I wouldn’t mind so much if it rolled over into December.

Wrap Up

Once I finish up the Halloween, I have some projects waiting in the wings including two that I set aside for October – Snow Village and Prim Stitch Series. I will pick out a couple of Christmas and Winter projects to start in December including the December Truckin Along, the new Country Cottage monthly sampler, and probably the December Country Cottage and Calendar Gnome.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope this has offered some creative inspirations. Wishing you happy holidays!
