Cross Stitch Diary: First Finish!

August the last month of Summer has arrived in full force.  While all of us are still sheltering in place here in California, stitching has become a way to pass the time.  I have been learning a ton about the world of cross stitch.  There are many things that are the same, but more things are different with cross stitch.

I have enjoyed learning to work with evenweave cloth and can’t believe, I prefer it over aida cloth.  It is still easier to count with aida, but laguna and other evenweave are actually easier to stitch.  I am still finding my identity in this new cross stitch world.

Stitch-A-Longs

BLOOMTOPIA – CHARITY FUNDRAISER STITCHALONG

I recently was able to work on this project and I am on release 6 now.  Since this was my first aurifloss project, I followed the directions which suggested 3 strands.  Now I am stuck with 3 strands.  I have done other projects with 2 strands and I like the look better plus you don’t have to use as much spools.  Just for grins, I have started the border as well.  I have a few miscounts, but I can’t figure out where, so I left it.img_4901

SINGING IN THE RAIN HOSTED BY @FLAMINGOTOES

I am so excited that so far I have been able to stay current with this cute stitch-a-long.  This week we are working on the flower row.  I added some more border.img_4868

MISTLETOE LANE MYSTERY SAL

I am still working on the house which was release 3.  The last two sections will go so much faster than the house.  I have seen some real cool houses.  There was a gingerbread house, a blue house, a green house, and even a yellow house.img_4859

PRIM STITCH MONTHLY SERIES

Part 1 arrived in July and I have finished stitching Patriotic & Industry.  I am working on the border while I am waiting for Part 2 to arrive.  A little birdy told me it would arrive this coming week.img_4885

Finishes!

My only finish this past month is FQS Quarterly Stitch – American Spirit.  I finished stitching the project.  I am still trying to decide how to do the final finish.  I am thinking maybe a pillow but I don’t have any patriotic fabric.  I will see what I can do….img_4812

Under the Needle

I haven’t worked on Butterfly Dreams or Feels Like Home this past month.  I have been focusing on my stitch-a-longs but I did find some time to work on my August Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives.img_4874

Well this is a wrap!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Keep on Stitchin’

  1. Hi Peggy! That first picture of the two kitties is just priceless! I adore how one is checking out what the other is doing. Too darn cute. You are doing beautiful stitchery work. I used to own a CS shop and really miss working on all that lovely fabric. There are so many fun things to learn and strive for – maybe someday you’ll try cutwork or a Belfast 32 count linen. You’ll find you get picky about your favorite fabrics just like you do with quilting prints. Nice job! ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Actually I went through a stage of learning Hardanger. But not a lot of people out there knew how to do it. I did a few pieces but I really loved it. I figure I might try Belfast 32 count now that I have made the leap to evenweave. How much smaller can the holes even be?
