APPLIQUE DIARY: Update May 2021

Well this post should be short and sweet. After getting so many applique projects wrapped up last month, this month was a bit … slow (or unmotivated)

With only four projects in process, I would think I would be more focused. I am not saying I didn’t do anything, just hit or miss, here or there. So onto the updates:

A Year in Words – Flowers by Shabby Fabrics

Flowers 100% pieced and fused

For some reason I was drawn to this one. The pieced blocks were fairly easy. Maybe it was those pretty shades of purple that drew me in. This one is ready for some batting and then appliquing all the fused pieces in place.

A Year in Words – Spring by Shabby Fabrics

100% pieced

This one I think I mentioned last month that I had to cut twice the orange pieces because I wasn’t paying attention to the cutting instructions as closely as I should. I started “assuming” and you know what they say about that. LOL! Anyway, I can’t tell where my boo boo is and I do love the pieced blocks. Next step is fusing the word Spring.

Blooming Series – Hearts by Shabby Fabrics

Still waiting to be appliqued

As you can see, I did nothing on this one in the past four weeks. To be honest, I have kinda been waiting until I get the other ones fused. I find it easier to work on multiple projects because it means less thread changing.

Blooming Series – Daffodils by Shabby Fabrics

Still waiting to be fused

Can you say procrastination? With over 90 pieces this one will take some time and focus. I need to number all the pieces first so I can group together each flower and fuse it. I find that to be the easiest way to deal with so many pieces – fusing groups together. When it is done, it will be beautiful, just a pain in the ass to assemble.

Wrap Up

Nala just being cute!

With only these two series left, I have started thinking about future projects. I have two other all wool series that I could start. Or I could focus on finding the missing projects for series I started before the flood and work on them. It will probably end up being both, but honestly I haven’t decided yet.

Hope you have enjoyed this week’s update on applique projects. Any questions or thoughts just let me know.

Peggy
