To Do Tuesday #75

Made it safely to Seattle and thought I would whip out my blog before we head out to Canada on Wednesday. As is normal in Seattle, it is raining but temperatures are mild.

I will be linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt again this week with the To Do Tuesday linkup.

What Got Done This Week

It has actually been a very productive week. I had another quilty zoom day as well as some quality time on the weekend. I was able to get the following done:

  • Finally finished August 28th & 29th of the 365 Block Challenge

  • Finished the December Monthly Color Challenge block

  • 3 rows assembled from my 2019 100 days 100 blocks
  • Spent one day layering tops ready that included my Teal Batik Table Runner (pictured above), December Gnome is Where the Heart Is, Year in Words – Christmas, and Blooming Pointsettas
  • Quilted Welcome Friends Banner as well as make hanging tabs, binding, label and finish embroidery. Even started sewing on the binding until I was distracted.

Afterthoughts

I was in my cutting room this week and was in the process of throwing away all those scrap battings I had saved when I realized I needed them. So I ended up cutting 12 4 inch batting squares for me to use up when I get home. LOL! You are wondering what those are for? I will be working on doing the Final Finish on my Cross Stitch projects – Year in Celebration. I have all the supplies to work on finishing them.

I folded up all those scraps of batting and put them back in my batting basket. 😂. I did end up throwing away and/or cutting away anything smaller than 4 inches so I did end up with more room in the basket. It felt like a win!

Design Thoughts

I also came across an idea to use felt tiles for a design wall. So I purchased a dozen of them after measuring my wall. The box came last night and so when I get home from my trip, I will be working on setting that up. It will be huge help as it is time to assemble the 12 inch border (with 6 inch blocks) for my 365 quilt and a design board would be sooo useful.

Fabric Organization Thoughts

I recently watched a video of quilter who uses a lot of scraps. She only sorts by color and when she pulls from her stash, if the collection salvage doesn’t have the information, she has not idea what she is using. She had a trunk show and her quilts were gorgeous.

I have been sorting my Alison Glass collection by color, my Tula Pink collection all together, and then everything else lumped together by color for fabrics larger than 7”. Oh and I have a box of half square triangles sorted by designer. Plus I have bins for 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3.5”, 5”, and 7” strips and squares together. I have another pile of Lori Holt fabric in my english paper piecing area and flannel in another box as well as batiks in a different box. Then there is my Christmas box, my Patriotic box, my Fall box….

While I know where everything is…. After seeing all her quilts, for 2024, I am just going to sort everything by color. At the end of the day, it will take less storage area to sort by color. It is definitely something to think about right?

Happy Holidays everyone!

  1. Hi Peggy. It’s alway a joy to visit and see all of your lovely projects and the progress you make. Well done! Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season up here in wet, Dreary Canada. It didn’t fell much like Christmas with the snow melted here, but the snow started falling again so I have my winter wonderland back.

    1. Hi Carol. My daughter was a little disappointed that there wasn’t ant fresh powder while at Whistler. It looked like all the storms were coming the week after Christmas. Still enjoyed our time in British Columbia.
