To Do Tuesday #74

Hi Everyone! Hope you had a great week. I am looking forward to sharing what I did this week. Check out Carol’s blog over at Quilt Schmilt where I will be linking up for To Do Tuesday.

Finishes

This week I actually had two finishes! Let’s take a look. One is a final finish and the other is a top finish.

Shamrock Ridge from On Wander Lane by Nancy Halvorsen at Art to Heart

All I had left was to stitch down the hanging sleeve and label as well as add embrodiery and buttons. I have no idea why I procrastinated so long. It is now proudly hanging in my guest bathroom. It looks great there. I thought I would share my homemade label. By looking at the label you can see that I finished quilting and binding this in October. Crazy it took me so long to do the last hour of work on this quilt. I love it and am looking forward to starting the next one in the series – Bunny Knoll.

Mystery Jelly Snowflake QAL with Fat Quarter Shop
2022 Snowflake quilt top finish #jellysnowflakeQAL

I originally could not figure out when I started this. I just found it on their website. 2020! The exciting thing was when I started pulling out my Christmas quilts this past week. I discovered this one just needed a border! I even had already cut the borders. Woohoo! So baby, I sat down and immediately had a win when I finished sewing those borders on. Now I have added it to the longarm pile.

This quilt is one of the reasons I have quit doing so many mystery quilts. I much prefer what the end will be if I have to pick the fabric. One day I will redo this pattern and do only two colors. I think it would look fantastic in blue and white.

What Got Done This Week

Besides the two finishes this week. I also had some other wins. Hmmm. I hadn’t realized that most of them did not include sewing. LOL! I am not saying I didn’t use my sewing machine, just that the other than the finishes they were little things I needed for day to day living and the other things I just never finished. How funny.

  • Final Finish Shamrock Ridge from On Wander Lane
  • Top Finish of 2020 Jelly Snowflake Quilt
  • Continued working on my leaders/enders project Daydreamers
  • Replaced my missing pieces for Gnome Is Where The Heart Is
  • Finished fusing Gnome Is Where The Heart Is
  • Finished fusing Year in Words – Christmas
  • Finished fusing Blooming Pointsettas
  • Cut & glue basted Queen of Diamonds block 2-2

I took a lot of step out pictures from the applique prep that I intend to do a blog of tips and tricks for applique soon. Over the years I have developed some tricks that really help speed the process that I would love to share.

Afterthoughts

Simba stealing clover clips

You may have noticed a lot of pictures of Simba this week. He was very involved with all my attempts to work on projects this week. Nala was very helpful at the ironing board. I was trying to iron the borders flat and she refused to move. I finally had to pick her up and move her. But as soon as the ironing was done, she went back to her nice warm spot. Lol! You can see her in the picture of Jelly Snowflake.

Both of my kitty helpers love to steal clover clips, needles, pins, plastic baggies, thread. Well I could go on and on. Let’s just say they see the sewing studio as their playground. I love their companionship dearly. There are days I could do with less help.

I have another quilty day planned for Thursday, so I am hoping to wrap up another project close to being done – Welcome Friends banner.

Hope you found some inspiration here. Thanks for letting me share my love of quilting (and kitties) with you. Have a great week!

  1. Your Shamrock Ridge is beautiful, and looks like you found the perfect backing for it too. Love the label. I bet it looks darling in your bathroom. I need to utilize the wall space in our bathrooms for some quilty project! Nala and Simba were really busy. I understand how helpful kitties can be. Yesterday I almost despaired of getting anything done! I am looking forward to your tips and tricks for applique post.
