To Do Tuesday #172

Rain. Rain. Rain. We are full on PNW winter now. We need the rain and the snow pack. I have not seen the sun often this past week, but it has peeked out 🌥️

I will be linking up with Carol for To Do Tuesday again this week. The link is below.

Project Updates

A pretty great week in the Sewing Studio this week. My sister encouraged me to make it upstairs often. Let’s take a look.

Churn Dash Blocks

Finished my second churn dash block for the month of February and started my final and third block. I continue using this as my current leaders and enders project.

FINISH: February 2026 Monthly Color Challenge block by Patterns by Jen
Finished Feb Monthly Color Challenge Block

Despite being green, I love how this block finished. I was able to get a butterfly centered. This is the Ohio Star block. Jen never tells us what the block name is so most of the time I don’t know.

FINISH: Autumn Seeds Block 3 by Lori Holt/Bee in my Bonnet

I have really enjoyed the making of these pumpkin blocks. I haven’t been able to stop working on them when I am having so much fun!

START: Car Block #2 for the Bring Home the Tree quilt by Lori Holt

Back in December you might remember I was cutting the car unit for the car & tree block. January I finished my first block with a pink car using Alison Glass Christmas collection from 2019. This week I started the light aqua car. The car has like 4 pages of instructions (maybe more). I have already finished two pages.

I really love the fabrics I picked for the wheels. They are actually from one of here SunPrint series. The tree units were finished in December. I am getting pretty optomistic that I can finish this before month end. Very exciting!

Finially finished trimming all my units. Now it is time to plan out the pieced border. That was a WIPGO goal for February. I don’t think I am going to get it done in just a few days.

Musings

I had some great sister time this past week. We picked out furniture for my living room. It should be delivered some time in April. We had lots and lots of sister talks. I even dragged her along to my exercise classes. She was a good sport about everything. It was a great week so as you can imagine, it was bittersweet when she went home on Sunday. Can’t wait until next time.

When picking out the furniture, I realized that my one year anniversary in Washington is around the corner on April 11th. Definitely need to having living room furniture. 😂

Storygraph

Storygraph is a reading app similar to Goodreads but I didn’t really ever click with Goodreads. My daughter suggested this app and I have loved it. In retirement, I have been reading a ton. I set a goal of reading and listening to a 100 books in 2026. (I read 98 in 2025). I mostly read ebooks (only because can you imagine me find shelf space for a 100 books every year?). I do listen to audio books as well. Not as many as when I was working but still a fair number of them. Genre? Extremely varied – Romance, Science Fiction, Paranormal, Fantasy, Historical, Spy Novels, Mysteries, Fiction. I mean a lot of different things.

Being an accountant, stats are fun! I love their monthly summaries. Above is January. I needed to read 8 books in February and I already hit that number so I am on bonus books for the month. I am relistening a series I listened to back in 2020 so it is almost like the first time. I am thinking of getting a library card in my new town of Vancouver just so I can explore more!

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. I will be back on Friday with all my cross stitch news. Have a great week everyone!
