To Do Tuesday #170

Hello Quilty Friends! Welcome back. This week started off with a bang and ended with a crash. LOL 🐿️. I got totally distracted with other crafty projects. Good news is I finished a few things on my artsy to do list as well as making some progress on my quilty to do list.

I will be linking up with Carol again this week for To Do Tuesday. Check it out!

Project Updates

This week I made it several times up to my sewing studio which made me super happy. I focused on working on just a few projects. Let’s take a look.

WIPGO Project: Not Kitten Around (aka Not My Kitten) Wallhanging by Riley Blake

I worked pretty consistently on this project. I trimmed up after stitching in the ditch previously. I made the binding and even added a label. I get labels from Sweetwater. I was going to only use the 2025 label (when I finished the top) but decided it needed more some I cobbled some together. It’s my first time using these labels. I think I could have done a better job, but it is good enough for this little wall hanging. I pinned on my hanging sleeve and laid out my binding. We are ready to bind!

When I finish this project, it will have allowed me to finish my January WIPGO goal of binding a project and my February WIPGO goal of labelling a project.

I wrapped up my first of three for this month. I don’t have as much contrast as I hoped but I still like it.

Autumn Seed Blk 3 by Lori Holt (Bee in my Bonnet)

I have been working on my pumpkin. I finished the center of the block and the corners. I have started sewing the four other units but they are not done yet. Great progress!

2026 January Monthly Color Challenge block by Patterns by Jen (PBJ)

I made awesome progress. I finished making all the units and am ready to assemble the four quadrants of this block.

Musings

Love Wood Display finished 2/9/2026

This is the year of PLAY (or learning new stuff and enjoy the process of creating). I thought I could share some of what I have done this week. I painted and assembled the above wood project from Chantelle’s 141 Design. It is my first time (that I remember anyway) of painting wood objects. I learned how to sand, distress, and glue this project. I got tips on how NOT to have pink stripes instead of white stripes as well as how to final finish it. I think it turned out pretty good. This was done over the course of the week just in time for Valentine’s Day. It was fun.

I also attended a cardmaking club meeting at my local Craft Warehouse. I have become a little fascinated with this. Since retirement, I like to send out cards every month to different people. I thought it would be cool to make my own as part of my “PLAY” this year. Above is an art one that I made using the Zentangle technique. I colored it with Alchol markers. (I forgot to take a picture of the final card before mailing it to my sister for her birthday 🙄.

The second card is one I made using a Simon Says card kit. When making this card I had to learn how to use my supporting tools so it took me a while to finish. 😝. I anticipate getting faster at this process once I understand how all my tools work. Meanwhile, I have watched a thousand videos (just kidding).

While I want to learn these skills, it is a distraction from quilting and cross stitch. I am a bit ADHD so it works out in the end. Plus it is just fun!

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you found something useful. Feel free to leave comments.
